WIW: Lapis skirt and Fluevog boots

In Style this month had a feature on how to wear the color "lapis" which seems to be a lighter shade of cobalt with a twitch less black. I decided my new Eloquii skirt is lapis colored, but pairing it with black is not exactly an adventurous choice!

This jacket is several years old and has barely escaped eviction a few times. But I actually like the longer length with this skirt as it helps to debombshell a ponte knit pencil skirt and so it's going to stick around for at least another year. And, of course, my new Fluevogs ground me and keep my feet happy.

Suggestions? Other ideas on how to debombshell this skirt? I'm on the hunt for a boxy sweater to wear with it...

How about something similar to the colors in your shower curtain? Seriously, I was going to suggest a lighter blue and grey, but there it was behind you! Yellow is just a bonus accent that you could play with. Have fun!

Cruel! You can't just post about Fluevog boots and not show us a full on picture of them! I'm biting my nails with anticipation of their loveliness.

This looks great. I love the crispness of it. I'm wearing cobalt/lapis today with Fluevog boots too, so we're practically twins (and incredibly good looking ones, if I do say so myself....)!

I agree with JulieJohn I think the skirt would look wonderful with a shade of aqua similar to what's on your wall . I also adore this color with black and white prints, and lime green (if you are feeling really adventurous). The jacket looks great with the skirt -- so glad it was saved from eviction!

Thanks for the GREAT suggestions and the nice words. I'll play in my closet to see what colors I have. I definitely am on the hunt for a sweater like the one Angie suggested. I do love the loose pullovers I'm seeing this Fall.

Day - I have an off-white blouse with black trim that might work as you suggest - not as crisp as white and black, but in the house right now. I also have a white and black polka dot scarf I could pair with a plain white buttondown....

K - You crack me up! It _is_ like baby photos. Oh, look at the little pumps, so cute :-).

Nadya - Off white will work just fine especially with black accents to give it definition. I have a cardigan that shade of blue and wear it with a creamy shell and a black skirt often.

You will LOVE the polka dot scarf with this skirt especially with the crispness of a button down shirt. That sounds like a fabulous outfit formula! I can't wait to see.

What an elegant outfit! Lapis, huh! I like all the additional styling ideas here. You can wear this outfit every day of the week in a new way

If you keep the rest of the outfit in solid colors, and don't need the warmth of tights, I'd also like to throw in the idea of semi sheer black hosiery with small scale print, like dots or something. It's like adding a textural interest.

I'll soon be doing a happy dance as wehave a Fluevog store opening in Minneapolis sometime soon. Woohoo - their sizing is all over, so trying on will be wonderful!
