WIW: Lace + Bomber

Inspired by Angie's post today.

Super girly skirt and lace plus tough bomber jacket. Happiness is a 10 and this jacket is great for the rain that is forecast. Jacket is Air Force flight crew issue from my previous life. Skirt is RL recent thrift find. Old lace top and ECCO ballets. Please excuse the wet hair.

I love the concept of lace with a boyish bomber. A fun juxtaposition!

I realize that this bomber is sentimental, and although the oversized look is on trend, there is still something off about the fit here. I think its the length and the length of the sleeves. What do you think, Sarah?

You wear a shorter skirt with flats exceptionally well. Not easy to do

So good to see you again, Sarah! I see what Angie means about the sleeves on this jacket. I wonder if the oversized jacket would work even better with skinny pants or jeans and the lace top?

BTW -- I like the "authentic military issue" vibe a lot. Most of us can't do this (unless I raid my Dad's closet --- but he's army and I don't do green and khaki --lol)

I always love it when YLFers manage to put Angie's posts to life! Love the idea of this juxtaposition.

I agree with Angie about the fit of the bomber, but the authenticity can't be denied. You look great in the lace top!

I have enjoyed the sentimental jacket today but...

Angie, you are (of course) spot on about the fit. The arms are HUGE, length and width, and the front of the torso too long where the stiff zipper presses the fabric waistband down. I like the torso length in the back though. When I was fit for this jacket the process went something like... can you zip it up? Great, it fits! I think a size or even two down would have been perfectly fine but probably wasn't in stock at the warehouse and would have required special order paperwork that no one wanted to fill out. Thanks for the awesome compliment regarding the skirt and flats

Beth Ann, I think i may try skinnies next time.... or my black straight legs.

I have an idea for a little strategic safety pinning to try to remedy some of the excess length for the next go round. If I decide this is a trend I want to embrace though I think i will need to purchase a different jacket. But I do love an authentic version....
