WIW: Lace and Loafers - YouLookFab Forum

I am still re-decorating and re-arranging my home, and it seems to be taking forever! I had to collect a painting today, so headed with DSs to the mall. I built my outfit around my new loafers ... since I so desperately wanted to wear them! I have been wanting to buy loafers .... but I just couldn't justify spending 100$ on them, since my casual shoe capsule is over flowing! So when I saw these metallic ones (last pic) for 20$, I fell Oh .... they are super comfy! I chose my mint lace dress to echo the spring in the air. And since I didn't know what to do for a bag, I just used my animal print bag.

Incidentally, when I stepped out of our apartment elevator, another lady stepped out from the other elevator wearing a dress, nude hose and knee high boots! It was pretty awkward! LOL! I am not sure how she managed to stay cool in the 29C weather! I saw her waiting for her bus at the bus stop in the scorching sun! Hot!

Pic 2 - I was wondering if this is acceptable to do with a transparent dress? A different colored cami so it looks intentional and not like underwear? Also, the dress doesn't really pull at the back but I am not sure why it looks weird here. I could have used a belt for some (non existent) waist definition, but I don't have a good belt collection and I suck at belt shopping! I couldn't find any that would go with my shoes So I headed out like this annyway!

You look very pretty and cool (all meanings). I think it is ok to wear the tank under the dress, and I would not wear it any other way. I would probably choose a white one, but I this looks fine too.

I think that wearing the cami is a great idea. Like Shevia I might consider white, or maybe mint to match the dress. I love your shoe and bag choices - very casual but chic.

The loafers are really cute and look great with the dress! I like the idea of loafers with casual dresses, but I always look stumpy when I try it -- envious that you're pulling it off so well.

It can take a while to find decent belts, or it seems to for me. I like sheia's idea as well about wearing a white or mint cami underneath just for a change of pace. You look great!

What a great deal on the loafers - I love the color. Regarding the dress, I think the cami is essential, although I might go with white.

Love the metallic loafers! If I was wearing that dress during the day (out at night might be a different matter) I would also go with a cami. The blue works but is higher contrast than a white would be.

I have trouble buying belts too. I think they just don't sit correctly on the waist for me. But JCrew has some nice ones on clearance right now, and so does Banana Republic.

The loafers are a great find and the colour will work with anything. I think the back view is fine and no need for a belt. I would prefer to see the cami in the same colour as the dress - but that's just bring picky.

I love to watch you having fun with fashion and clothing, Neel! Personally, I like the cami in the contrasting colour- it keeps the outfit fresh and prevents a lace dress from becoming too sweet or too staid! $20 for those loafers?? Score!!! PS I suck at belt shopping, too. ........are we some kind of twins separated at birth...?? Googly eyes.......!

Fuzzylogic - Bwahahaha. Long lost twins! Seriously ... Why is belt shopping so hard?! Today I finally bought a few skinny belts in the basic black, white and brown colors (whilst shopping with my neice and because she wanted belts!) Wide belt - which I love is an entirely different beast.

The mint lace is adorable, the loafers look great and I like the edge animal print brings to the outfit. I think a contrasting underlayer needs to be full length, not just cami length.
