WIW lace and cardi, what's off? ETA restyled outfit

Today was chilly and wet. Lots of rain and far from summery. I wore my white Ecco sneakers and this blush lace top with lavender cropped pants and a wool cardi to keep warm. White cropped for a casual day at the office and maxi for out and about.

I did not feel great and wonder if you fabbers could help me figure out what was off? Suggestions for tweaks or changes in the outfits? Maybe this is a one time outfit?

Maybe the heavy weight of the toppers does not play well with the dainty lace? Both sweaters have a very rigid shape so you could try something with more movement. Really love that lace top!

Thanks, Meredith! I see what you mean. Not sure how to keep warm without the toppers, but I could try a lightweight wool cardi instead.

I don't see proportion or fit issues. Maybe you're like me, and you feel washed out when you wear an outfit entirely made of white, pastel colours.

skylurker, you are on to something. I feel this outfit lacks edge or something fun. Although the lace top, in theory, should be that "something" item.

Great suggestions all around. The "edge" is buried by both toppers. All tho I like both pieces. I would have stoped with the white shrug and maybe did a wrap It serves the same purpose but is more to me edgy.

I like the outfit without the toppers. Maybe you could try a crisp-looking trench?

Oo how great is that lace? I also have those Eccos and love them.

Maybe a bit of structure in the topper would help boost the outfit to play off the softness of the lace. So I guess the final ingredient would be contrast... either hard/soft or light/dark. I'm thinking a denim or leather/pleather topper if you've got it? I think a denim jacket with rolled sleeves could be great.

Thank you all for your great suggestions! I tried to change it up a bit with another pair of pants, shoes and scarf. I can wear my beige trench as outerwear. What do you think?

As suggested by JuniperGreen, I too think juxtaposing the soft feminine lace with a harder/edgier top layer such as a denim or p/leather jacket.

Thanks, lozz_oz! I like the denim jacket suggedtion and will keep it in mind. However, these days it will not keep me warm enough. The temps are 10-12C / 50-53F, heavy rain showers and windy.

I do have a black moto (All Saints) and a grey mixed media moto. The black one is too heavy and unfortunately I feel washed out in the grey with these pastels.

I liked the original one with the white topper but not as much with the grey one....but the restyled ones are much better.....more vibrant colors. Love
That scarf and would never have thought to pair it with blush but the outfit is so fab!

Thank you! It's so great to have your input and get new understandings and ideas about an outfit. Without your comments I would probably just left it and not try other combinations because I wouldn't know where to start.

I'm wearing the scarf restyled outfit today with the grey mixed media moto and I feel like *me* again.
