WIW: Kicking off Twenty thirteen

Yup, still casual. That hasn't changed. I wore bootcuts for the first time in a year and realized that I still really like them (quite a coup that they still even fit!) Everything else is more of the same. My style goals for the year: refined casual, slightly masculine with a little boho thrown in.

ETA: Thank you to Anne for the poncho sweaters! I LOVE them and will wear them till they pill!

Wow! You are already meeting those style goals, I would say. These are great! #1 has a sort of cheeky schoolboy vibe to it (fun!) and I LOVE #2. You're right - it can be a great change to wear boot cuts, and you look terrific in them! #5, with that amazing cowl, is my absolute fave! It's a little UWP, even.

Great balls of fire, woman! How do you keep doing it? I love you in bootcuts, so don't give them away. Congrats on being able to still fit in them! Number 3 and 5 are my absolute faves. Something about you in a cowl. Neat UWP for sure, and the wash on your jeans in #3 is TDF.

@Suz: Thank you. I’ve never really been able to figure out my style descriptors (poor analytical skills when it comes to fashion) but all of a sudden, I seem to know exactly what I like! It’s a great feeling--it’s only taken me what, three years?

@A.Kiernan: Thanks! The jacket is old and from Esprit. It’s what I call my refined field jacket. I’ve seen variations on this jacket at Eddie Bauer and Loft. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for something similar for you.
@Angie: Thank you! I love my new descriptor! You’ve got me pegged. I have a hard time with truly rugged looks--they make me feel like a poseur. Aesthetically, I prefer a bit of polish.

Casually put together just took on new meaning!

I especially love #3 --- so easy, comfy, cosy --- and I love your neutral-to-muted palette so much.

I'd like to copycat #2. (Yeah, another fan of bootcuts, even if I don't have boots!)

#1 looks so cheeky-preppy, and #5 is precisely poised between masculine and feminine (as opposed to androgynous).
