WIW: keeping track - YouLookFab Forum

So I really haven't had anything exciting to post recently. The new job is taking up much of my time, in a good way. I'm trying to remember to take daily pics for my new photo calendar app. It's really helpful to see at a glance what I have worn for the last few days. And as a personal challenge, I am trying to see how many days I can go for at work without a complete outfit repeat. So whilst I'm wearing the same items, I'm wearing them in different variations.

I will also say that whilst I think most of these outfits are ok... They're not where I want to be style wise and I am not overly enthused by any of them. I am merely taking what's in my wardrobe and trying to make it work for a smart casual dress code after a seven year hiatus in an environment that allowed me to be MOTG casual.

I have posted some of these as individual WIWs but I thought it may be interesting to post the whole series.

1 and 4 have been weekend stay at home outfits and 3 and 9 are casual Friday outfits. 12 is the app which I've been using to capture these.

Thank you for looking and Id love any insight and feedback which you may have for me.

Hil, I think it is both great discipline and great exercise to do this. I found a month of consistent photos really gave me deeper insight into what I truly love in my wardrobe and what I'd just as soon not duplicate, as well as what direction I want to go.

I still think you own the slim skirt-avant-garde top look. I especially love 2 and 10 for that reason. The shoes also inject a real shot of style into everything. You are doing so much better than you think.

I love both the casual outfits Hil - YLF - relaxed & chic. Outfit #10 is perfect imo - smart, comfortable & stylish. I also like #2 although it does read more casual.

Absolutely loving #5, 6, 9 and 10. The proportions are flattering and you look fabulous. And that blue against your orange hair is sublime. Buy more blue, please. xo

I think I have to agree with Suz in choosing 2 and 10 as my favorites. A top with some volume paired with a slim skirt is particularly flattering on you.

And thank you for sharing that app! I am really liking it as a quick way to my WIW's.

I love your hair first off: it's just perfect. I actually love a lot of these outfits: the voluminous/swingy top + more fitted bottom is very flattering on you. And you rock black! Seeing #9 made me wonder if trying a woven, swingy top with your fabulous knit skirts would work.

I think you've got a great consistent look going on here. What is it that isn't "enthusing" you?

Just out of curiosity, what is the name of the app you are using? I use the Stylebook calendar, but you just get a polyvore type of outfit record, I like the idea of using the photos themselves, to see how I accessorized, tucked, etc.

Thanks for the feedback everyone... You all made me feel a whole lot more confident about what I have been wearing. In answer to Elizabeth's question... I think I am just a bit bored with my wardrobe and not happy with the extra weight I am carrying. I feel uncomfortable and I think that is affecting the way I see myself in the clothes.

PS The app I am using is called "Collect" and is a photo-a-day type app.

YLF, great outfits Hil. I really like #2and#10 as my favorites. You look great in a tube skirt. And I hear how you feel about a little extra weight. I'm the same at present.

2, 6 and 10 are my favorites, Hil, but I think you're dressing with more flair than you feel right now. Be gentle with yourself, learning a new job, even when you love it, takes huge amounts of energy!

I think it's cool how you have captured your outfits in that calendar app. If you ever do want to repeat an outfit you can just look at your calendar and choose! Nifty. I like 5,6 7 & 10 especially on you.

That takes do much discipline. It is well worth it. I love the tube skirt looks.

I think you are doing great with what you have. It's always hard to shift a routine. I really like you in blue, and the tube skirt + flowy top looks are super.

I really like seeing the bigger picture with all of your outfits grouped. There is an edgieness and casual ease at yhe same time which i find reall awesonme and fascinating. Change, even when we desire it and it is good, can be exhausting so pls be kind to yourself

Good for your being so disciplined to capture your daily look ( great idea using calendar format) Thanks for the idea. I like 2, 6, and 10. Always find it interesting that an outfit I think looks good may look completely different when I photograph it and can be such a learning experience.
