Loving all these 2025/2026 posts, and maybe I will make my own soon. In the mean time, I will share what I wore today: a long, eggplant dress with a sweater tee and a hat.
Someone wrote a post a while back on juxtaposition, and how to be using that in her life. There were some good ideas floating around. One I remember was something Angie said: mixing formal and informal.
Had heard that before--we always talk about "dressing up a tee," or "dressing up jeans" with a blazer, scarf, etc.
But she also mentioned dressing something DOWN, like taking a more formal dress and pairing it with something casual.
That stuck with me--I have many dresses I love, but never wear. This one is gorgeous on its own--a boatneck, drop-waist eggplant maxi dress from Express. I would love to wear it as is, unfortunately, winter hibernation has put on the pounds. But I chose to wear it anyway, with a sweater tee, batik/velvet bucket hat (gifted), a belt I made that I turned into a makeshift lariat, black loafers, fake readers, and blue glass earrings.
Ultimately, I like boatneck clothing to be minimal, like no jewelry or anything. But in the mean time, now I have a new tool--taking up and dressing it DOWN.
