WIW-Just starting out (office)

This is my first WIW post. I am just starting out trying to learn how to dress better. This outfit is what I wore to the office yesterday. It's much like most of my outfits: simple with no accessories. Hopefully, I'll be able to look back on this in the future and note some improvement.

Lavender shirt: Kohl's (I like the color & that it has detail at the neckline)
Grey Pants: Kohl's
Grey Shoes: Target
Black purse: The Sak (Nordstrom's Rack)

* Next time I'll try to use a camera rather than a camera phone...

Welcome and congratulations on your first WIW. I too find the lavender colour suits you well. If you are looking for more definition in your " line" you could begin with swapping out the knit for woven pants.

Great summery outfit for the office! YLF! Love the greys with lavenders. Esp love the neckline detail-so perhaps no need for other accaessories, at all. And esp love that shoes are coloured, too! (grey? but they look lavender to me, anyway- both are a good choice for summer)

Hi sweetpotato! The lavender is a beautiful colour on you and it flatters you very pretty face. Your outfit is nicely put together and you don't necessarily need accessories bit you could add a cuff or bracelet for example. For the office you might like to add some structure with a more tailored topper. Look forward to seeing more of your outfits.

Yup, I am pretty sure in no time you'll look back at this and notice the change. You will perhaps wear the exact same things, but you'll feel different about your choice. I can guarantee that much.

I think this is super outfit. The top colour suits you beautifully. The detailing around the neckline is feminine and gentle, much like your smile. The pants are the right length (big thing around here and rightly so, it does make a huge difference to an overall silhouette).

Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Welcome! That lavender is a beautiful colour on you, and the feminine touches on the neckline suit you well. The pants are a good length. Have you tried a grey pencil skirt to the knee? I think that would look good too (if you wear skirts!).

Welcome and congratulations on your first WIW! I will echo the others and say that this is a lovely outfit. The soft colour of the top, as well as its neckline, is really flattering on you. I was also going to suggest a pencil skirt but Ceit said it first! You have great curves and a pencil skirt would really define them.

And yes, one day you will look back and see a change. That's the power of YLF!

Wow! So many comments! All of you are so kind, and I really appreciate all the tips, like wearing a bracelet, woven pants, or a pencil skirt. I do own a few skirts, although I haven't worn them in awhile. I've been feeling a tad self conscious about my thick calves! The last time I wore a skirt I was asked by an acquaintance. "Are you retaining water?" I said, "No, I just have thick calves!" ha ha.

Heels would probably help, but I just don't wear them. Oh well, I think I shouldn't worry about it too much.
