WIW: Jessica Simpson Chiffon Maxi

My ballroom dance studio celebrated its 2 year anniversary a couple of weeks ago. I'm a student not the owner...Lol. The party theme was "Hollywood/Come as Your Favorite Celebrity". I didn't 'dress' for the occasion but I did wear a cute dress to dance the night away. Jessica Simpson is my dealer and her maxi dresses are my drug of choice. There is no hope for recovery.

I also got a pleasant surprise that night and received an award for Most Improved dancer. I've only been on my ballroom dance journey for about a year. It was a big confidence booster to be recognized in such a way by the teaching staff.

My 'expertise' in dancing dresses comes from watching "Strictly Come Dancing" so take this with a grain of salt I wonder if the length got in the way. I remember occasionally seeing dancers' heels getting caught in dresses hems on the show. But, in any case it's a lovely, feminine dress and I can easily picture it floating around you as you dance. Btw, your hair looks spectacular, but the real star here is your happy smile.

@Ornella - I wore this dress for the party not to perform so the length wasn't problem. I love the floaty-ness of the chiffon for sure. The party was mainly social dancing. My award was given based on my work and progression over the last few months.

Regarding my favorite dance styles, I'm a Latin/Rhythm kind of gal. My best dances so far are East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing and Cha Cha, followed by Rumba. For the smooth styles, I'm fairly decent for a beginner at Tango.

I have my first major competition this week...actually I perform this Thursday and Friday. I have to do all of the above dance styles plus Waltz and Foxtrot. I am at beginner/Pre Bronze/Intermediate Bronze level, so I have a ways to go on my ballroom dance journey. Today I'm just trying relax, keep my nerves at bay and remember to have fun. I will never get the chance to experience my FIRST ballroom competition again, so I better make the most of this special experience.

You look elegant and party ready! I love your hair, too! It's no nice to see adult learners in any art form --- I teach singing, and it seems that, since the recession, fewer adults are investing in lessons for dance, painting, singing. I get loads of kids, but I love the energy that comes from motivated adult students.
