WIW: I've got clouds on a sunny day...

This Le Chateau dress which bj1111 kindly ordered for me is so FAB! It's loose and comfy, not see through, and has a high-low hem. It's finally above 60 here so I am busting it out. Can I wear it with booties? I'm not a summer shoe person at these temps.

I don't need many summer dresses but am happy to add this one.

Yes I still have mine! My problem is I am between sizes in Le Chateau, so I need to do a little tailoring on top as I don't have your lovely shoulders to fill out the top on me (but a size down would have been tight on my hips).

Now for your more conservative work capsule, would you be able to wear this dress with your Theory blazer over top and some comfy pumps?

Shannon, I don't think so - it's a bit short (but maybe in winter with tights and boots?)...

Ceit, this is actually a little big in the shoulders for me - the seams fall about .5 inches off my actual shoulder line. But they definitely help, and this is why I prefer shifts to sheaths.

I could probably have sized down to XS, but I like this loosey-goosey fit! This is probably the same reason the shirt you sent did NOT work on me - it's already shaped like an IT, so it emphasized my shoulders in the most unflattering way!

I am curious as to why this type of shift does not work for everyone. Is it a figure flattery issue or is there an actual fit concern?

Definitely with tights and boots in winter.

This type of shift is horrendous on me both in fit and flattery - because of my larger midsection, in order to have the dress just flow and skim over my tummy, it then is much too larger in the bust and shoulders and I end up looking like I'm wearing someone else's dress.

Hmm, I wonder if this is a dress type for ITs? It is SO hard for me to find dresses that work, because most dresses are designed to play up an hourglass shape, and never fit my mid-section.

Yes, I think this style is ideal for an IT, as the silhouette is based on the shoulder as origin point. So having a nice strong shoulder line to carry the shape means it works. I am more of a rectangle/hourglass, my shoulders and hips are about the same (but I don't have a very defined waist).

I agree that this style suits ITs and rectangles. For me, it's a case of flattery but also fit. 99.999% of the time, something cut straight like this will cling to my low hip but be large in the top (even though I'm busty and have shoulders that almost balance out my hips). These cuts generally make me look like a large box.
