WIW: Is it a dress, a top, I dont know..

outfit #1-I just got these shorts recently and I think I really like it even though these are MUCH shorter than what I normally wear(I usually stick with bermudas). When I left the house I felt positively naked. I run into someone I know and he asked me if i was going to play golf. I said no and why was he asking. He said"well, looks like you are dressed for it". Does this look like a golf playing outfit to you?

pic 2 and 3-this is actually a dress that I originally bought 1.5 y ago to wear for a wedding and haven't worn since. I like the pattern and style and wanted to try to wear it in a casual way. To be frank, the lengh is rather akward because the shortest area comes to just under my butt which makes it nearly impossible to sit down and bend(as I found out the hard way) and heaven forbid if the wind blows so I don't think it can be worn without leggings or pants under it. Tell me what you think. If you remember the dress I bought recedtly, clearly I tend to stick to the same colors and patterns

I think it overwhelms you...you are too lovely to disappear in said dress...it should not wear you!

I guess your *friend* took one look at your polo shirt (my husband calls them golf shirts), didn't look at anything else you were wearing, and put his foot right in his mouth. I guess your shorts look extra sporty at that length, but people play golf in Bermuda shorts too. Who knows what he was thinking.

I think the dress/tunic looks good with the leggings. I can't imagine it without them! I see that Jayne thinks it's too overwhelming for your frame, but from my first look at the picture, I thought it looked good. How does it make you feel?

I think you look perfectly cute in those shorts, Victoria, and no, it doesn't look like a golfing outfit to me, though perhaps it was the polo shirt that made your friend make that association.

I quite like the dress worn with leggings underneath, but I can certainly see its challenges when worn without!

claire: I actually like the dress with leggings, its definately different from my usual preppy style but I liked it. I actually did wear this dress once without leggings to the wedding last year and spend the whole evening trying to make sure that my butt was covered(because short area is REALLY short), LOL

The private golf clubs here require that players have a shirt with a collar and that the inseem of the shorts for women be a minimum length (5-7") so this outfit would pass muster at the clubs. The non-private courses have no dress code so I would interpret the comment to mean you looked appropriate for a high class club.

I like the "dress" with the leggings. I say go for this - it looks fun and flirty in a good way.

I like the dress with the leggings, I also like the shorter shorts on you. I think the golf comment was the polo shirt ( I know you love them but they will always say "golf" to me).

I think your friend took one look at your polo and thought "golf." I'd actually think bermuda shorts were more golf-like, and I think you look terrific in BOTH lengths of short, Victoria. So wear, and enjoy.

Those are definitely not golf shoes you are wearing, LOL.

As for the dress/top - I quite like it! It's really unexpected on you, very boho, but if you enjoy it, I say wear it with those leggings. It's kind of nice to experiment with something already in our closets.

I like the shorts and I like the polo, but I'm not sure I like them together-- maybe that's why you got the golf comment?

But I do like that dress with the leggings. It looks fun and bit edgy.

Victoria, I really like the tunic. This style has been very popular here in Australia. I would treat it as a tunic, not a dress. I think it's made to be worn with leggings. Possibly skinny leg pants also:) It seems to fit you well in the places were it is fitted, so i don't find it overwhelming on you. Wear and enjoy, you look gorgeous in it.

I think you look great in the shorts and polo shirt. I would also take the comment as a compliment but then again I like golf. I would also treat the top as a tunic.

I agree with Claire 100% on the "golf" outfit and the tunic! I think the tunic and leggings look great. I have a hard time imagining that as a dress -- you're petite, right? It's awfully short to wear without pants/leggings, so you've styled it perfectly IMHO. I think the varied hemline prevents it from overwhelming your frame.

I really like the dress with the leggings and personally would not feel confortable just with the dress.
About the shorts, they look great on you and if you feel good in them you should totally wear them.
Who knows what people think when they ask those kind of questions?Maybe ,as Suz says, it was the polo/short combination,maybe it was an invitation to go and play golf

Golf? No way. Because, first off, you're wearing sandals and bracelets. Second, where's your visor? And third, if you're going to golf in shorts they're going to be *stone* color and a lot less flattering. I'm sure it's in the club handbook. I think that's why my bf won't take me to the golf range...

I like the tunic! And yes, I say that's a tunic.
