WIW: inspired by the cat - YouLookFab Forum

I think on racheylou's thread I joked that I was starting to dress like my cats as they were my main audience. This was the outfit I was thinking of. Actually I was also liking a lot of the skirt shapes and rich colors of the Dries Van Noten show Angie posted. I think I want to return to that for inspiration again, because while I liked this a lot, it ended up looking more 1920's than contemporary (not that there's anything wrong with that ).

1-2 Dries inspirations

3- Two ways I wore the outfit with different booties/mary-janes and with or without belt

4- With coat and bag and Marcus the inspiration. Esca is also hiding out there cleverly concealed.

Wow, I love this look my preference is with boots and belt, but I do like it belt less as well...a very cute 20's vibe. Not much help from me ...
I also love the jacket you topped it off with.....All of the different textures are lovely...including your kitties

Great outfit -- so rich and textured! I like it both belted and unbelted, and prefer the booties. And, of course, the cats are beautiful! I'm also impressed by how good a bargain shopper you are, going from the list of where you got everything.

The belted version is very seventies ( I know, I was there) and so I like it for its vintage vibe. I like the unbelted outfit too and I adore and covet that velvet jacket. Slurp.

I only saw the catwalk photos and jumped to see the outfits - the a.m.a.z.i.n.g outfits! Yet again, you nailed it by showing us what 'inspired by' means IRL. I prefer the options on the left with the boots, but of course both work brilliantly.

Thanks all! So some diverse opinions about the belt, which is how I felt too, divided, so I did one day with and one without

Good to hear the booties worked, I think their higher heel does make a visual difference in the photos.

Runcarla and Suz, I laughed too when I saw the photo of the 'concealed' white cat. When I stand by the door where there is good light for photos they think we're going for a walk, so there is a lot of milling and meowing, and the occasional paw/claw at the tights if I'm not paying attention.

So very evocative and beautiful! If you're wearing the scarf, I prefer no belt (too many competing diagonal/horizontal lines, I think?). Coat looks fabulous, no preference on shoes, definitely think the cats make the look.
