WIW Inspired by Pinterest: Burgundy & Stripes

I've had this pinned for a while, and finally had a chance to give it a try today. These are NYDJ ponte knit slacks, with a Bobeau pussy bow striped tank and Foxcroft charcoal tencel shirt. The scarf was my YLF Santa gift from Debbie and has received much use its first month! Boots are Fluevog Stop it Stad.

I decided to go more RATE than lady and added my new olive Anorak (I stalked this at Nordstrom until it went on sale) and funky purse. The ladylike touches are the pussy bow and a pair of elegant earrings.

I've been loving this jacket - I will forever be grateful to Angie for encouraging people in cold climates to buy lots of outerwear. My San Diego childhood leaned more towards "one jacket is all you need!"

Feedback and suggestions on how to play with this pinspiration are welcome!

You look great. The only part that is throwing me off is the pink in the first picture - I can't figure out what that is! The anorak is perfect.

Nadya, I think we are Bobeau tank twins! It's never occurred to me to wear it under a shirt. The pink tie on the tank plus the scarf might be a bit too much going on, though. How does the outfit look without the scarf...or with the pink tie tucked inside and the leopard scarf covering. That might be too fussy. Your outfit is inspiring, and I'll need to try that Bobeau top some new ways.

Great interpretation of the original pin, Nadya. I adore the burgundy on you and it looks marvelous with the charcoal and animal print (what a fab prezzie:-) And indeed, hurrah for jackets and for Angie encouraging us to get more (I'm SO on board:-)

If I want to change things up, sometimes I turn the colour palette upside down. So in this case I would try blue bottoms (skirt, jeans or trousers) with an orange or burgundy top (sweater, blouse, blazer, jacket...).

I love the burgundy on you!

Thanks for the comments and advice, everyone. I can see that the bow and scarf fight a bit - I may need to try this again when it's warmer and I don't need a scarf. I like the black and pink stripes with the burgundy, but it sounds like they're top it showing up well under the shirt - maybe I'll play around with an open jacket. Great ideas.

And for CocoLion, Inge and Ceit who love the burgundy - I had a poison eye for burgundy until this fall when I ventured into these pants and a purse. Burgundy on top is a bigger step for me than you might think :-).
