This is actually my Wed wiw! (Too busy yesterday to do a post.) On my Tues walk, I was in awe of the beauty of the silverly crepe myrtles among the almost sage-y green of the woods I was in. I also loved the colours in the lichen growing on tree bark. So the next day I decided to dress inspired by them! I only have one top anywhere near a silvery green colour: this jade tank with lace overlay. I adore the delicate beauty of this top, but it's fairly low cut, and I can't raise the sleeves, because then the bustline would obviously hit in the wrong spot. So I added a little grey scarf to feel more covered up (I spent a couple of years looking for a small grey silk square scarf; I finally found one two or three months ago and have reached for it so often since then). Luckily, the print is nature themed! I then pulled out this wool skirt, which is a very subtle mix of greys, browns, and even greens, much like bark. When I thrifted it a year and a half ago, it fit in the waist, but at that time I was on (medically prescribed) steroids which had thickened my midsection. My body is finally recovering from the last round, so now the skirt is a tiny bit too wide and blocky. Until I get the chance to take it in, that means a belt to the rescue! I picked a silver one to keep with my inspiration. And finally I needed a cardigan and tights for warmth: this grey cardigan is delicate and has subtle colour gradations, so it seemed like the ideal choice, and I just added my grey tights to stick with the theme. Between the belt, the lacey top, and the silk scarf, it seemed like I had enough accessories already so I just added my little silver snake ring and called it a day. I felt wonderful in this outfit and colours!

For errand running, I decided to wear my utility jacket, that I thrifted several months ago inspired by Angie's blog post about them (and had to wait to wear since it was insanely hot). I love how this one is more of a dark sage green than warm olive tone, that it has pleated pockets, and an internal cord to cinch up the waist. However, I felt a bit off wearing it, and once I saw the photos I realised why: the buttons & the epaulets make it seem more military than field scientist. So last night I replaced the buttons and removed the epaulets; I think it's much more me now! I'll have to wear it again soon so I can show you photos. For the first time since the weather's gotten cool there was no rain forecast, so I could wear my grey faux suede boots. These are a much more yellow grey than most of the greys I wear, and looking at the photos I think I should've gone with my dusty brown mid calf lace up boots instead. But oh well! They were comfy at least.

I quite enjoyed building an outfit around a specific inspiration, and I think I want to try copycatting a la Angie's recent post next! As always, all comments/suggestions/etc. welcome. Do let me know if the top is just too low cut for even a scarf to save it (eta: for casual wear, not work attire)! And what you think about the jacket fit: it's actually a size 10, but between my broad shoulders, the waist cinch cord, and my penchant for things a bit oversized, I think it's alright. Not positive though.
