WIW: inspired by Aida (peplum+bf)

Last week Aida, herself inspired by Anna, posted a fantastic outfit pairing a peplum tank with long BF jeans. I immediately knew I wanted to copy it, especially since I have an almost identical pair of 100% cotton long Gap SBF jeans (I think the only difference is that mine are a slightly darker wash).

So here is my version, with my green peplum top and cognac platform sandals (since I wanted a little height with this look). Looking at these photos though, I'm not sure that my black platform sandals wouldn't have been better... do you think the cognac sandals look out of place here? The topper is the KUT faux leather draped jacket from NAS - there's finally a little autumn chill in the air so it can come out to play.

I think my version is a bit more hard edged than Aida's, as per Angie's new style continuum.

Ok so that peplum is fantastic on you. Great color, too.
I do think black sandals would have been better. And maybe a roll or two on the jeans.

Great interpretation of Aida's look! The peplum top fits you really well, I really like the draping and length. I like the brown sandals with the outfit, but when you add the jacket my eye wants to see a black, more covered shoe or sandal. That jacket is fantastic, glad you're bringing out to play finally.

I really like the cognac sandals when the outfit is without the topper because there's a similar depth to the colors. Once the black topper goes on, black shoes might bookend better? That is such a nice green on you.

Oh how fun That peplum top looks super on you, and what a great wash on those SBFs. I think the black sandals would work nicely with the black jacket and skew the look harder OR perhaps swap the bag for a brown one. The cognac seems to warrant a warmer top, and that would be a softer look for sure.

Gracie and Amber, I think you're right about the sandals going better without the jacket. Makes sense because I initially put on the whole thing sans jacket and only grabbed the jacket before I was heading out. I think if it was cooler, my cognac leather jacket would have worked (but maybe too cold for sandals then...)

Anna and Ceit, I agree about rolling the jeans slightly. I had forgotten that the hems don't want to fall AT ALL over these shoes, so it was actually going under my heel slightly.

Aida, thanks again for the inspiration! Unfortunately I don't have a cognac bag, but I agree that would have worked well.

I love your iteration of this formula. I do think closed or peep toe booties would harden the edge. Your dear little toes make for a daintier look.
