I don't actually own any pastels (except for some PJs and loungewear) but I wanted to take inspiration from today's blog post anyway. Since Angie said it was all about lightening up and softening your look, I figured I could substitute something light but clear for the milky pastels. I decided to go with some sour brights. The handknit lace shell is usually a summer piece, but keeping to my renewed love for sweater vests I decided to layer it over a silk blouse like a vest. The blouse also lightens the green up more, making it sort of a pseudo-pastel (lighter in color but clear, not powdery). The light grey jacket with citron trim also adds some more lightness to the outfit. On the bottom, I have chosen shades of grey (charcoal jeggings and gunmetal patent boots), as the only pair of light colored pants I own are faded blue cropped BFs that are not winter-appropriate. Similarly, it is too cold today for my lighter toned footwear (taupe midcalf boots or gold oxfords).
I am also not a super classic dresser, but I think the blazer and blouse are a pretty classic combo. The handknit lace and patent booties keep it arty though!
