Hah! Hot drinks for everyone next time!-)

What a fantastic trip and you look adorable. I'm surprised you could move in all of those layers. Great wildlife photos too - the bald eagles look so majestic. All I see around here are turkey vultures which are fine until you see them up close. Thanks for sharing your adventure. It's always a treat to read!

Inge, yes, hot drinks for everyone!

Kelly, thank you. The layers sound like the little brother in A Christmas Story (one of my favorite Christmas movies, BTW), but I didn’t feel that way at all, because there was plenty of room through my shoulders. I was able to take pictures. The boat was rocking, so lots of them didn’t come out, unfortunately. I don’t know how many I took, but my husband said he took nearly 4000 pictures on this trip!

4000?! He must have some hard core storage system. We can't even manage our project photos at work--this hobby sounds like a full time job!

Kelly, he pretty much made birding and photography a full time job when he retired! He goes birding for four to five hours nearly every day. I’m glad he has such a passion. Honestly, most of the pictures will be deleted. He can take pictures rapid fire, and on an eight hour trip, he can take a lot of pictures. Not to mention the other days. I think he got me a better camera and lens so I wouldn’t get bored on these trips. I started with a phone, then a point and shoot, then one with a zoom, etc. Of course, I don’t take as many and I take pictures of other things, too, not just birds. For example, in Anchorage I talked to a couple of ladies KIP - knitting in public.

Haha! That’s my kind of “in the wild” photo! That’s great that your husband has a hobby—so important in retirement to have a plan.

Kelly, yes he has a plan. I got him this for Christmas:

Haha! Funny there is a market for that shirt! Or maybe it was custom? DHs would be golf. He is looking into a new country club membership for us both—haha.

I saw it at a bird preserve and then found it online.

What an adventure! It looks amazing. You are adorable in your layers. Too bad they weren't enough on the boat. Ladies "KIP"--what a hoot!

Sharan, thank you. I enjoyed talking to the ladies. I always find knitters to be interesting. But then it started to rain and they dashed to their car. At the same time, just a few feet away, my husband was talking to a man with two young boys who were quite good birders. Their interest forced their father into the activity! He was enjoying it, but it was their grandfather who had introduced the children to it.
