WIW in Spain

We just returned from our 12 days trip to Spain. We spent about a week in the south, in Malaga and a couple of days in Madrid on the way back to Canada.

I travel with carry on luggage and carefully plan my vacation capsule. The weather is the biggest challenge. This time my capsule worked well although I missed a few items that I decided not to take at the last minute.

I took with me:
3 pair of lightweight pants
1 jeans
1 dress
1 lightweight merino cardigan
1 tank top
2 button down shirts
2 t-shirts
2 tops
1 swimsuit and 1 coverup
2 pairs of flats
1 pair of sandals
I kept my promise to myself to take photos of everything I wore. I forgot a couple of time and then asked my DH to take them while we were out

#1 is my travel outfit
#5 is what I wore for the beach
#15 I tried but changed my mind and didn’t wear, instead I wore #16. The light casual cotton blazer was the only item from my capsule I did not wear even once. The rest was ok.

I didn’t have a color palette in mind when I selected my clothes and it showed. I was bored of my outfits at the end, I’m minimal in style but definitely not a minimalist when it comes to a wardrobe.

Welcome back Irina! You may have been bored with your clothes but you definitely don't look boring. I really like every single outfit with the exception of #15. As usual your styling is spot on. Extra love for #13. Looking forward to your observations post.

You were in my neighborhood, Irina (more or less). I live in a village about 80 km away from Malaga. I think your vacation capsule worked very well indeed. When I go to Malaga, I often think the locals dress better than the tourists (visitors often go overboard with practical kit or alternatively with tacky tropical outfits.)

You looked great every day without getting boring. Good planning, especially with only carry on. I'm now trying to learn to do carry on only and it's a challenge.

The only thing I would do differently is not take any white items. As I get older I'm not so neat and I can sometimes spill or brush against something and not notice until hours or even days later.

My first thought was that you look extremely stylish. I could definitely learn something from you. My second thought was that though the outfits are simple, they're still very chic. A little bit of color, some neutrals, and ease and flow in everything you wore.

Love each of these wiw! Love when one's travel style is so consistent with his/her everyday's style. Shoes, bags and earings were really trendy/special/different and spot on and I amired again your Marimekko dress! Why did you change from 15 to 16? What have you missed taking with you?

Angie, I’m becoming a bag lady! LOL The bag in #17 I bought in Madrid. I will talk about it in my next post. I was planning on taking a brown linen sweater that would’ve been perfect for the evenings as it was cooler by the sea. I also wanted to take my brown mesh bag and a green linen kimono. For fun
JAileen, well I didn’t have any difficulty with packing but my spare jeans went into DH’s bag He is a true minimalist so he had some extra space. I bought a thick cashmere sweater in Malaga and squeezed it in my bag, though
lyn67, re: #15. I felt that an oversized shirt under a blazer was not comfortable enough. It didn’t exactly influenced my decision but DH was not a fan of the outfit, too. I should’ve worn it with a t-shirt underneath.

I am amazed you could fit all that in a carry-on! We are travelling overseas soon (in just over a week) and as usual I will take a full suitcase. I have got better at not over-packing though but still like variety. Love your outfits, I agree you look chic!

I am in the South Island for work for six days and I packed a large suitcase haha!

I love the dress, the green pants, and the monochrome in particular.

Excellent job with your travel outfits! You had a lovely capsule with both textures and colors and remixed the pieces into some really nice outfits. I'm especially fond of the brown and tan pairing in #9 because brown is so on trend. I also adore the pop of color the green pants give to 3 and 10.

What wonderful outfits with just the right accessories. I like the patterned wrap you are wearing in 6; is that a wrap or does it have sleeves? 9 is another favorite for me but it’s hard to choose! Your relaxed, modern style is always such a pleasure to see.
