WIW: hot weather = more fem, cool weather = a little more masculine/androgynous?

Or at least something like that seemed to be happening this week with some of my clothes. Feedback and ideas welcome!

1) very hot and time to start exposing pasty legs to a little sun.
-pleione top/rack
-H&M floral skirt
-UO deena & ozzy hologram flats

2) also very hot
-strappy turquoise dress/adrianna papell
-cardigan/marshalls
-sugar teal oxfords/kohls

3) suddenly cool and rainy (so I felt like extending winter clothes a bit)
-bc cub booties
-patterned leggings and tube mini/ross
-peasant blouse/old navy
-ponte flared jacket/marshalls

4) brr!
-zip neck sweater/t j maxx
-white cami/ross?
-tube skirt/target from goodwill
-G for guess booties/TJ maxx
-lamarque jacket/rack

5) preparing to do battle with pouring rain
-black skinnies/ross
-black leather lace up boots/red light clothing exchange
-olive cable-knit turtleneck/talbots from goodwill
-london fog trench/goodwill

6-7) I'd hoped to wear one something like these ideas with my Niza Moda trench coat but rain postponed it. Not sure if the Clarks booties in #6 work with bare ankles. T-shirt design in #6 actually is a near match to the jacket embroidery at the bottom so have wanted to wear these together somehow although the blues aren't identical. I'm still playing with it.

I love all these and your cat is adorable. My boyfriend wanted to get a sleek black cat to match our all-black wardrobes. That would have been smart. The calico's fur shows up on everything, of course.

That patterned trench is amazing, and either of those shirts would be perfect with it. I really like the combo of the trench and the skull shirt.

I think the Clarks would work very well with bare ankles in general and they're fine in outfit 6 but that outfit might be even better with different shoes. Are those the standard Clarks desert boots or do they have a heel? They're so cool.

The temps seem to be a bit troppo in your part of the world, rabbit!

I know what you are saying, but I see a continuum of femininity from soft to a bit more hard/edgy rather than masculine/androgynous!

The turquoise dress is so (dare I say) pretty (this is intended to be complimentary) but my my personal faves are #5 and #7. Great to see your skull tee making another appearance!

Well I think your skin is a beautiful porcelain (not pasty). Interesting that you go to floral and lace in your warmer weather outfits but I do see still an element of lace in the colder weather outfits. I had to do a double take to see if you were wearing boots with black tails! Lovely outfits and you have wonderful posture.

Love all iterations! I like your somewhat eclectic tastes coming through in all your outfits. You have an eye for the delightfully unexpected. Great shoes in 1 and 2. Lovely print, texture and proportion in 3. Fab black and white boldness in 4. Lovely classic trench and edgy boots in 5; and in 6 and 7 I love the prints and booties with the dramatic coat.

Terrific outfits - I love the shoes in #1 and think the Clarks look great with the bare leg in #6. #5 is a favorite too!

Your style still comes through in all of them. Great outfits! I find the same thing is true for me -- more dresses/skirts, a slightly more boho vibe, and a lighter color palette all conspire to make my style more feminine and less edgy in the summer.

I definitely have a little more girl/boho in the summer and a little more boy in the winter. I love all of these outfits but 3, 5, and 7 are really speaking to me.

Love all of these! It's interesting how there's an element of consistency here even though you've got all different levels of girliness v. androgyny. It's especially fun to see how you've somehow given the very sweet dress in #2 a little bit of edge with the cardigan and oxfords (and your dramatic coloring).

I really love the trench with the top in #6. I think it brings out the delicacy of the embroidery more than the skull top does.

Each of these outfits is so interesting and special. My favorites are 1 with that beautiful skirt adding structure, 4 with dramatic black and white and the asymmetry of the top, and 6 because I love the black and blue top with the lace on the trench.

Oh I love the folkart feel in 3! And all of the trench iterations. How fun too that your shoes and dress match so well in 2!

I tend to have lighter/more colourful looks in warmer weather and definitely start leaning more boho too, but I'm never an edgy dresser.

Wow your style is so cool, I love them all! I'm not sure that my style goes more feminine by the season, but historically my colour palette definitely lightens up with the summer. Guess that's true for lots.

Oh I love these, esp 6-7.
I definitely dress more fem in the summer/warm weather - brighter colors, flowier fabrications, more dresses/skirts, not to mention the fewer/lighter clothes draw more attention to the actual outline of my figure, which is unmistakably female.

Greyscale - aw your calico, I bet her fur doesn't show in your hair however. I have both a black and a mostly white cat so it doesn't matter what I wear, it shows. They also like to roll around and make a nest in the clothes I've just laid out in the bed. The Clarks are the water row boots with a heel. I agree that another shoe might work better with this outfit though, since they are a very taupey/earthy gray.

fuzzylogic - We had a few days of tropical there, everyone was a little stunned. Your right, none of these go particularly masculine since I'm mostly wearing skirts. This is actually a change since joining YLF, I wear skirts almost as a default now where before it was rare. No worries, I think the dress is pretty too.

Jeanie - You're right, I'm drawn to intricate lacy design just as much as bold shapes in both seasons. Thanks, I've always had bad posture, but I've been trying to work on it because it makes a difference in how outfits read IMO.

Diane - Thanks, I sometimes try for unexpected, but I think I also sometimes don't register that certain things aren't usually paired because I'm paying more attention to color and pattern than their wardrobe function.

Shevia - good to know those boots work with bare legs!

leopardluxe - TY! Yes as soon as I bought those shoes on a whim and wondered what in my wardrobe they'd go with I noticed this dress I'd bought for a wedding long ago and thought that when the warm weather hit I'd need to try them together.

Janet, viva, museumgal and jackiec - I wonder if we simply reflect what we see in the natural world a bit? Dark bare branches and gray streets getting replaced by leaves and blossoms?

Aubergine - The skull top is actually embroidered itself while the tee is a print, but I was so pleased to discover how closely it mimicked the trench. I definitely want to wear them together more. I think my subconscious pattern-seeking mind really kicks in when shopping because I'll bring home something that feels a bit wildcard and then it isn't - it goes with lots of things.

E - I saw the movie Frozen for the first time shortly after wearing that outfit and realized that it did have that slightly Scandinavian folkart element going.

Great outfits for the crazy week of weather we had! All over, for sure. Smitten with #1, I have that same blouse in black and it looks super over the printed pencil. I haven't worn mine that way in a while, I'm keeping that in mind to do soon. The lace cut-out detail of the dress in #2 is neat, and the color looks super on you. Beautiful layering in #3, I really like how the patterned leggings work with that outfit. The graphic contrast in #4 is fun, though I think I'd like to see that without the cami layer visible to make it even more stark looking. #5 looks perfectly capable of taking on that rain! Love how olive and black look together, and those taaalllll looking lace-up boots are awesome (I like the vertically tight lacing, a bit Victorian feeling). Both #6 and #7 look good to me, including the booties. For #6 you could also try oxfords or slipper flats if you have them. That printed trench is beautiful!

I thought that an interesting and true observation: hot weather = more feminine; cold weather = more masculine. I find that true for myself, and my summer wardrobe is a little bit at odds with my personality because of it.

Wow rabbit these outfits are fab. While it's not my place to award titles, but IMHO you are the queen of contrasts. You mix things I would never think off, and whats more they look amazing. I probably favour your more 'winter' based outfits but that is more a refelection of my own preference. I love your choice of shoe and topper in #2, it makes a a simple summer dress look pretty cool.
