WIW: Harness (inspired by annagybe)

I remember when annagybe posted her harness awhile back and I thought it was cool. So I finally got a custom-made harness from Etsy! I really like it, although it takes a bit of work to style it to avoid the S&M look (unless, of course, that is the goal).

I wore it out to a bar last week and tried styling it casually. I know the harness probably is on the "Out there" scale, but I'm having fun trying to figure out ways to wear it Suggestions welcome!

This is so cool! I love it with the slouchy white shirt and it does not look S&M at all here. Just cool and edgy.

I actually love this shape although it is a daring one. I am jealous that you wear it so well - even though I am just average in the bust, my boobs are too wide set for this look to work well on me.

How about also over a dress, like a sort of back-to-front waistcoat or corset? (Refer Kari's WIW with waistcoat over dress --- I think that looks extremely stylish.)

Great harness pairing here with the slouchy shirt. I think the harness paired with looser materials may be the way to go to avoid the S&M look.

I love this. I've coveted Anna's as well. This definitely goes into the category of "wish I had the nerve to wear it, but I don't".

When I heard the word "harness", at first I was perplexed - but this actually looks very chic and cool, especially with the drapey blouse. You've avoided the S & M look and made it look fab!

I like it . . . couldn't wear it because I have too man gun toting friends that would try to clip holsters on it and then I'd end up with .40 cals and 9 mils shoved into my bra. Looks too much like a shoulder holster.

Janet - :/ I bet if I had asked, Angie would have talked me out of this one too. Have you considered a more subtle harness? It's interesting that, depending on where you wear a piece like this, you may stand out or not. In some bars in SF, my outfit would be really really tame.

Elly - that's funny, because when I first put it on I felt like Lara Croft or that I should be packing some ammo in the harness

cciele, I think Angie was (not surprisingly!) right to nudge me away from the harnesses. I'm quite a bit older than you (I'm pretty sure), and I have a gut attraction toward edgy looks, but when I reflected on it, I'm really not so sure it would have been the right look for me. I already have some strong, structured "rock'n'roll" pieces in my wardrobe (lots of leather jackets, studded details, etc. I was initially disappointed to not get a ringing endorsement for my considering a harness, but now I think it's for the best. (For one thing, I think I'm too busty to wear it well.)

I will enjoy the look vicariously through you and Anna!

You've done a great job styling this -- and that's no easy task I like the soft slouchy blouse underneath, and the way you've kept the colors cream and black.

I'm looking forward to seeing it with the slouchy tank, or over a dress like suggested, too!
