Hi all
Anyone watch Orphan Black? I have just finished binge watching the first 3 seasons. It's a show about female clones and part of the fun is that while all the clones look alike they have very different personalities and styles.
I am very attracted to Sarah's style, also Cosima's and Delphine's. (Delphine is not a clone but I won't hold that against her.)
Sarah's style is very grunge/punk rock. Lots of black, leather, heavy boots, hoodies, chunky sweaters and graphic tees. I think Angie would call her style hard edge.
So for fun this week at work I decided to give a nod to Sarah by doing some hard edge looks. Well, maybe only hard edge-ish.
Here are the results.
Outfit 1: I layered a chunky sleeveless sweater (country road) over a long sleeve tee (free people). (The tee has thumb holes, which is very Sarah or possibly even Alison.) I wore this with AG jeans, Moto boots (jo mercer) and my Ombre jacket. The H&M cardi is a substitute for a hoodie Technically I am not supposed to wear jeans to work but I can get away with these because they have a finish like velvet (not denim).
Outfit 2: I layered an Asos sleeveless midi dress over a mesh top (reebok). I also wore a longline sleeveless knit tunic from Cheap Monday over the dress. You can't make out the knit in the photo but it does add some texture and warmth. OTK boots (Midas). I think this skewed gothic but I liked it. IRL it felt and looked quite luxe, which was pleasing given how inexpensive the components were (the Asos dress was $23). For outerwear I wore my Metalicus berry cardigan (which is not very Sarah at all).
Outfit 3: I layered a faux leather vest (H&M) over a sleeveless khaki turtleneck dress (Metalicus). The dress is a knit and has a small cheeky side slit. (Witchery currently has a similar one.) I was inspired by Shedev to buy the vest and this was its first wear. It is from the H&M divided range. I suspect Sarah could do a lot of shopping there.
So, for next week I am thinking about Cosima. I really need some colour now
