It seems like the Halloween costumes in all the shops these days, are ridiculously low-cut on top, and ridiculously high-cut on the bottom. My take on any holiday or special-events attire these days, is that I have to be able to:

a) Sit down comfortably in whatever I am wearing
b) Be able to eat and drink in whatever I am wearing, and
c) NO Spanx or shapewear if I can possibly avoid it.

#1 was my 'costume' Halloween night, #2 I wore to a Halloween party Saturday evening.

#1-2 The first costume wasn't a real 'costume', per se. Just a cute outfit with a mask. I found this very vintage, very battered Venetian cat mask at a church shop in Sonoma a few weeks ago. I used a tiny swivel knife to lift off the old gold trim, re-applied more trim, and then brushed on a lot of pigment powders to put some color onto the leather. I wore a LOT of sparkle eyemakeup from Make Up Forever, and a pair of gold glitter lashes, but they don't really show in the photo. At some point, I will probably re-do the gold trim.

I wore a gold metallic 60's-style sweaterdress, gold stockings, and the gold pumps in #2. I took a couple of full-length pictures, but the flash washed out the reflected image, and no flash was too dark.

#3 This is my take on Suzie Wong. I tried to really get an Asian eye, but that was far beyond my current makeup skills. It was no easy task trying to offset a deep eyelid, and big Italian eyebrows! I did win first prize for this costume, much to my shock, because there were some great costumes at the party.
