Wiw: green jacket debut - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all

I wore this outfit to dinner on the weekend. It is loosely inspired by an outfit worn by Veronica from Bittersweet Colours in this profile by Inge.

The outfit I was particularly taken with was her green, rust and brown outfit. I loved the bold colour combination and how it amped up the retro vibe of her outfit. I went for a green, burgundy and brown combination, although there are some rust tones in the skirt, and even some aubergine. I threw in my red faux calf hair bag for some added texture and to match the slash in the skirt. This is a lot of colour for me! I wondered later whether it was a bit too Christmassy with the bright red + green. But, anyhow, it was a bold first adventure for the new green jacket. Plenty of time for it to meet all the black in my wardrobe.

Ps my hair is blonder and straighter than usual because I went to the hairdresser on the weekend. Alas, it won't last.

Beautiful, Brooklyn. The new jacket is amazing on you, as we all knew it would be! I don't find this too Christmassy. I find it richly autumnal (though I suppose you are past mid-winter where you are now.)

Agree with Suz, it's a great look. I didn't think it was Christmassy! Love it both with and without the new jacket.
Though I must confess I saw the title of the post and hoped the jacket was velvet!

I love how the diagonal lines of jacket and skirt play together. I love the outfit without the jacket even better, because you look terrific in burgundy.

FWIW my leather jacket will barely do up but shoulder fit and arm length are the key to Fabness I think.

Aww, thanks everyone! I am sorry I have neglected this post, I have had a frantic day at work and am standing at a bus stop waiting to go home now (it's just after 7 pm). I really appreciate your comments and the reassurance that's it's not too OTT or Christmassy. And I guess Angie and Aida are right, nothing wrong with Christmassy anyhow! Thanks also for the vote of confidence in the jacket. It still feels fairly stiff but I am sure it will soften with wear.
Scarfring, the boots are Jo Mercer, an Australian brand. The style is called Archer.

It looks great! Wearing the collar closed like that is one of those styling tweaks that makes an item uniquely yours. Makes the whole outfit less classic and more avant-garde.
