WIW: Green and Camel

This is my interpretation of Angie's outfit formula, 'Earthy Sage.' I tried the Aritizia camel sweater with the C of H Paloma green cord pants.

The camel sweater has gotten very little wear. I am not sure about the colour with my hair. I am open to the YLF forum's feedback.

I went to a medical appointment and then did groceries. For a topper, I wore my LL Bean orange coat. It was that cold.

Your sweater and cords fit you beautifully, and these colours harmonize perfectly but it sounds like you might be seeking a bit more contrast between your sweater and your hair as they are very similar.

I would think adding your orange topper likely provided you with a bit more colour contrast.

I guess I see it a bit differently than the others . I like you in higher contrast looks , and find this combination a bit “ quiet “ . Indeed the orange coat would add some vibrancy , but I think a tonal or dark brown pant ( even navy ) or even a faux leather pant would be interesting here .

I love the sweater with your hair. It's beautifully tonal. And I think it must have been peppy with the orange jacket. But you may have been craving more colour near your face. At this time of year, I think we often do. A scarf might do that trick for that.

I get a very similar effect if I wear a soft grey top or sweater. It is very harmonious but can feel a bit "soft" for me, personally. That is, it suits me just fine, and works with my generally lower contrast appearance - yet doesn't feel 100% right.

Like you, my hair and skin and brows are fair and low contrast to each other. But, also like you, my eyes are darker (in my case, a slate blue.) So when I do wear a soft grey top, I typically include navy, or charcoal, or a brighter patterned scarf with colour, or a brighter or a blue topper -- or a silver necklace -- something to add that bit of contrast or sparkle/ shine.

I like the tonal top. Gives the quiet luxury look that I see a lot lately. But I do understand about liking high contrast - that is my preference too.

I understand now what I didn’t before, about wanting more contrast. I wonder if that’s why I eventually donated (after 30 wears) a pretty grey scoop-neck merino top. I had thought it was because it had a slightly mauve tinge to the grey which may not have been my colour, but maybe it’s partly because it had that low contrast with my grey hair and my pale skin, which I hadn’t realised.

I like idea of more contrast or some jewelry with semi precious stones ( coral or my fav turquoise ). It's pretty all together - just a bit quiet.

Some low contrast people look great and feel great in low contrast. Others look great, objectively, but feel "washed out' or "disappeared." Especially when the hair is grey. It's tricky!

I agree that the sweater is very nice with your hair! The whole vibe is very tonal, which I think is quite consistent with your style. But I’d kind of like to see that sweater with blue denim for a bit more contrast, just to change it up a bit. But this is a totally fab silhouette on you.

Suz mentioned something I read somewhere recently and found effective : shine near the face ( even from a simple but shiny earring ) does wonders . Also something else I was thinking about ( and Suz also alluded to ) after I wrote my first reply : a slight darkening and defining of your eyebrows can create some contrast and structure so that tonal tops and sweaters look less blended-in .

Thank you, everyone, for your feedback. I appreciate your wisdom. I did feel too 'faded' in the sweater, but now I have some ideas on how to fix that. I like the silhouette - chunky, boxy sweater with wide-legged pants - so I can work on the outfit with your feedback.
I usually have my eyebrows tinted, but they have faded, so I am making the appointment tomorrow. I will try to remember to wear earrings with the sweater. My gold hoops would be best. Sadly, I can only wear gold in my ears now. My silver earrings with the stones are out.
Lipstick would help too. But I would be wearing a mask at the hospital, so what was the point?
I will try to post a revised version later this week.

You look great - and I like the suggestions re shine and contrast if you want to. I can also need a bit of "punch" when I wear camel or blush. I don't think you need it but you may prefer it.

I was watching some YouTube videos on what people were wearing in London, England - and noticed the interesting combination of honey beige or camel and Granny Smith apple green! It looked so cool! I believe Angie recently bought a dress with this colour combination.

PS: I’m looking for a beige sweater that matches my hair!

I like this look a lot. And I had the initial impression that it is a quieter combination of colors than I am used to seeing in your WIWs. I think the sweater is beautiful on you, very complementary to your skin and hair. With the idea of a tonal look, I would try off-white jeans or pants, to brighten the look a little bit from the bottom up.
