Finally got to go see my Jade yesterday. Yes, she actually did hair on the holiday, and yes she is being as safe as one can be right now. No mask, no service. Temperature checks. No hanging out inside waiting, you can only enter within 5 minutes of appointment time. They do take walk-ins, so the 5 minute thing helps keep the # of people inside to a minimum. Yesterday was very minimal. We had the place to ourselves the entire time I was there, because the other stylists didn't work the holiday.

I checked with management at my store and got the ok to do lavender hair. I was strongly encouraged to keep the color placement in a manner that let me pull the color back into a doo-doo ball (my affectionate name for those wads of hair that aren't quite a bun but definitely aren't a ponytail), which was fine with me. I was already considering doing an ombre anyway.

Jade slayed me. This was the first time she has done any actual COLOR in my hair. We've done color correction with a toner, but never actually dyed my hair. She put the purple dye on the hair, and by the time she was painting the last bit of dye on she realized my hair was really sucking up the color. Which was not news to me, having dyed my own hair koolaid red for years. She didn't let the color sit, she definitely didn't bake it in with the dryer, she just rinsed it out immediately when she realized how quickly my hair was grabbing the color. We may let it sit for 60 seconds next time I go in for anything, but for now we wanted to keep it subtle because I don't need a write-up at work

I'm giving myself bonus points for getting a "not bad" from my mom who was HORRIFIED to hear I was getting lavender hair. Not bucking the rules at work paid off with mom in addition to helping me keep my job LOL
