WiW: Gauzy Gray Scarf/Black

Trying to stay accountable to photos and learning. Have started to make some observations about accessories, the need for some lightness in my darkness, the role of my glasses, etc. Still a bit early in my journey to come to any real conclusions or claim descriptors.

The sleeves on this jacket are Kimono length and I ultimately pushed the gray turtleneck sweater sleeves up so they didn't show. I haven't worn heels in months -- felt pretty good. As in, I can actually get back into heels. They need not be ignored. These are platform vera wang lavender heels that are surprisingly comfortable.

Black ponte pants. Long black topper coat, Silver/gray waffle sweater, Gauzy Scarf.

I like this look, especially the scarf. This may because cosy scarves are my main source of outfit joy these days.

I love gauzy scarves and I think it adds just the right amount of softness to you outfit. You look fantastic!

This is very pretty! And the effect of the gauzy scarf seems surprisingly seasonally appropriate, like a light frosting of snow. Pretty!

It all looks great. Among other things, I'm impressed with how well you wear your glasses. Your long hair and gauzy scarf create a sort of light nimbus around your face, and then the glasses serve to emphasize rather than hide your eyes. The outfit would look fine without heels, but the platforms do add an enviable fashiony charge. You look like Sienna Miller (in the best possible way).

gauche: Thanks for the comment about the glasses. They are $10 glasses from the airport but I am realizing that I can no longer suffer with readers part time -- I need them full time. The eyewear show in NYC is in March so my local eyewear boutique said come in April.

I'm trying to like my long hair but recently I've on the fence about cutting it to a layered should-length bob. And your comment "Enviable fashiony charge" -- really makes me feel good. I've been feeling like such a rookie and wanted to turn it up a bit.

And I didn't know who Sienna Miller was (I'm completely in the dark when it comes to folks/celebrities in pop-culture). You made my day but I think you need to get your eyes checked.

Great silhouette. Remind me, are you tall? Because you look long and lean in this look. I like the white scarf and wonder if you have something similar in a black and white abstract pattern?

Oh Deborah. Long and lean...I could kiss you! I'm 5'4" and not so lean. But trying to get back to an ideal weight. It's a constant fight (life-long). The other scarf that you might be thinking of is below.

Interested in your comment about the need for some lightness in your darkness. Someone here (can't remember who, unfortunately) posted that they always liked a touch of white near their face. Since reading that, I discovered that I always like that, too. (I have mid- to low-contrast colouring, not as "bright" as your colouring.)

Super nice look. I love the softness of the pale grey with the black. I like the cuffs of your sweater showing as a little punctuation, but I guess tucked in is cleaner. And those specs do look a bit Diane Keaton.

Super scarf! Love the gauzy texture, the soft drape and silvery colour. A nice touch to lighten up your outfit. Goes great with you complexion and hair, too.

I must say that I'm a bit surprised at all these glowing comments. It goes to show the importance of outside input. We just don't really know how others respond to our looks (or I don't). I thought the look was good but to the extent it is getting positive remarks. Many thanks.

You look fantastic! I have been wearing a lot of scarves lately due to this extreme cold weather we're having. I also like to have a little lightness around my face when I am wearing darker colors. The scarf adds both lightness and softness to your look. Well done!

CocoLion: Okay. You are seeing things. No J Crew model. But I will say that I completely agree with you on a comment you made on a post of mine a while back about using more dramatic make-up when you have a high contrast look. So I followed that suggestion. That was a great point. I might be able to amp up the make-up even more. Baby steps for me. I tend to feel like I'm blinking with too much make-up. A sales rep at Nordstrom asked me the other day -- "Do you ever wear lipstick?" Funny comment. I have been trying to put some color on my lips... Thanks for the comment!

jackiec: Thanks. I can't wait to replace these glasses with some better quality (and hopefully a little more sophisticated) this spring. Again, these are $10 airport glasses. But I am getting so blind that I need readers to even eat (I like to see what's on the fork.)
