so here is the problem: I think this outfit makes me look shorter and rounder (stumpy??).
I think if I wore my dark karen kane bootcut or straight jeggings OR a higher heel I would look taller and slimmer
.
Ms K is still home sick so not on her A game taking pics.

We both did get our hair done though today and we are both whipped for it. I might be getting what she has.

So anyway help me make this work!

I think that either the straighter leg or bootcut would look better on you. The top seem to be a bit too loose. You are right, I am not a huge fan of this outfit on you and I do think that straighter leg jeans and higher heels would be a better choice. I love the color combination though

I like this outfit alot. I like it better with the shirt buttoned like you have it in 1-3. The purse is awesome. It would be nice with a tunic length shirt too. I usually wear tunics with jeggings. That bag is the bomb! Love it

Sona, how do you feel about a half tuck? It never fails to lengthen the leg line when wearing flats.

You don't look round/stumpy at all. This outfit says laidback, casual and sassy to me.

If those loafers were a neutral, it might be a little boring. That bright jolt of orange makes the whole outfit and gives it personality.

I can tell your daughter is a dancer just by her pose. Would I be guessing correctly that she is the type to dance around the house just for fun?

Also, on another note, your kitchen is almost identical in layout to my parent's kitchen and has the same (or very similar) flooring, countertops, cupboards and appliances. Kind of a "deja vu" moment for me.

The problem I'm seeing is that the chambray shirt kind of hits at a spot where it cuts off your leg line. In the second outfit, the chevron top and the chambray top both hit around the same spot, giving the impression of a horizontal line right where your legs start, cutting off your leg-line again. IMHO, the chevron top would look much better paired with a longer outer layer OR a cropped layer. The chambray shirt could be worn by itself tucked in, or maybe tied, or maybe layered under a pullover, although in the photos it seems pretty boxy! Maybe it could be taken in at the sides?

I like Julie's idea of a half-tuck. I have a poison eye for button down shirts over other shirts.

good suggestion on the half tuck although i think the outfit looked fine, but needed a bright at the top to balance the orange....an orange cami under, a purse, scarf, necklace??

I actually really like the outfit as you have it in 1-3 and of course have duplicated with my W&W skinnies, ON chambray shirt and orange Born flats!

P.S. Your daughter is adorable - takes after her momma!

I think the effect you mention is more apparent with the shirt unbuttoned. Could you leave off the undershirt and keep the button-front buttoned? This particular shirt also seems shorter than your usual formula of tunic-length shirts with skinnies.

Whoa there, little lady! I'm all for tweaking an outfit, but I feel like you're starting to worry too much about perceived (by you) figure *flaws*. A little half-tuck maybe and you're good to go.

I have the same shirt (thank you!) and it is a bit boxy. I wouldn't wear a blouson top under it and then button it up. Only a body-con T will work underneath, otherwise you're adding volume that looks like it's all you, since people can't see the underlayer.

You have a beautiful figure and all people notice is your fab style and beautiful self. DD is a great fashion accessory as well, and I hope you both feel right as rain soon!

Rae: yes this shirt is shorter which I think is stumpifying to my eye.
Claire, Joan, Julie, Jayne: I will have to *gulp* muster up a half tuck one of these days.
shopping is fun: yes this shirt and tank do not hit my sweet spot at all.
Victoria, modgrl, Sylvie, TS: thank you. I think this outfit looked ok in real life you know! Just not a 10. But one cannot have a 10 everyday!

And these orange laofers got a lot of love at my salon and the kids salon!!

I much prefer the shirt buttoned and without an underlayer... Otherwise, I think you look very pretty and would love to see you do a half-tuck!

I also like this outfit. Maybe a bootcut would look better, but you look tall and slim to me. I just don't see what you feel ( regarding being squat).

Ms K is just to die for ( but she does look a little short...LOL ).

Well I think the outfit in #1-3 looks super and I love it! I MUCH prefer that to the unbuttoned version. I kind of want to see the shirt buttoned all the way up and add a colorful bow tie :} Ms K is adorable and takes after mum! Hope you two feel better soon <3

My heavens. I looked at the outfit in 1-3 and could not figure out for the life of me what the problem might be. You look wonderful in that!! I prefer it that way to open, but...um...you know. It's great!!

I love those orange loafers! I prefer the outfit without the white shirt, and I think it looks great as is - love the bag too. Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous; she clearly gets her looks from her mom.

I think #1-3 looks fabulous on you, and I really don't see a problem at all - you look beautiful and very stylish in this outfit. The orange loafers are the icing on the cake!

I really like both looks--call me crazy! I think you're probably right about the suggestions you made (higher heels, bootcuts) but I think these looks are cute in their own right. Sometimes it gets old always wearing high heels to make ourselves look a certain way, you know? It's refreshing and chic to pop on those bright orange loafers.

Where's this short, round Disney dwarf you mentioned? I see a diminutive Asian princess and I see an yummy mummy!

Seriously, Sona, that first outfit is pretty hard to tweak. At best you could tone shoes and pants --- but where's the fun in always forgoing the bold bright shoes? --- or choose white pants to go closer to the tone of the shirt. But those are just different looks, you know, in case you aren't feeling the skinnies so much these days.

By the way, do you ever get irritated with your clothes when you're coming down with something? I know I do --- bad time to try judging; best time for the FFBO (which, this could easily junction as).

Personally I didn't think that either of these looks made you look stumpy. I thought the trousers in each outfit were perfect & I love the orange loafers & like Jayne's suggestion of introducing some more orange. I like the shirt open & closed but I think as you are an apple you'll need to be careful that the closed shirt doesn't pull against your tummy.

Ms K is as lovely as her beautiful Mum.

Sona, I love those orange loafers-they really make the outfit special! I agree that buttoning up the shirt as in 1-3 works very well, especially with a slim under layer/camisole. I notice a tad of gaping/tightness around the bust but I'm wondering if fashion tape or a hidden safety pin would help.

I actually love the jeans on you, and this type of leg is great for exhibiting our fave shoes, so I would definitely stick with them. Would possibly have worn a more structured top garment, perhaps a more fitted shirt with an exposed (or v) neckline. I think that where the hemline of the shirt hits is the thing, and a tad more skin exposed at the top half would balance it all out so much better - so, a more shaped shirt?

Nothing stumpy here!
