WIW: Frumpy or not, here I come...

These NYDJ ponte trousers are so comfortable for days when I work 11 hours. I tried to defrump them with this ancient Allsaints argyle cardigan and gold booties, but am I just bringing those fab items down to frumptown? Help!

Is this a case of thinking something is frumpy just because it is comfortable? Those look just like any pair of black dress pants - no frump in sight. You look great!

As long as they are unfaded and look like black trousers the eye is going to settle on the fab booties and cardigan anyway. Once they start fading and pilling, you may need to replace them. I loved my NYDJs black Ponte pants last year but they needed replacing after a season in heavy rotation. I got my money's worth out of them.

That looks like a non frumpy, long day at work outfit! Do you not wear straight leg trousers often? Maybe that's the difference for you? I wore my wide leg trousers for first time this season and thought it worked when I left home but felt a little frumpy/out of sync by end of day. But it was comfy.

All right, I'll bite... Some commented that this particular cut of pants can look frumpy on my earlier post with the grey ones. I realize these will never be edgy and maybe that's where I'm feeling off. But I am glad you don't see frump. I'm not just fishing, really! I don't feel I have skills with certain looks yet.

I think the outfit looks great. I especially like the top. Is it argyle? It looks sort of tie dye. Either way, I like it!

Una I am not sure you could look frumpy if you tried. Your aesthetic is unique and totally "cool" If this is "frump" then you will find a huge fandom following you into your version of frump!!

I think the boots are fabulous and would de-frump anything.

And FWIW, for 11-hour working days I say comfort is the order of the day, frump or not.

I think I know what you mean - I SEE no frump but I would FEEL frump if I wore them - maybe they would BE frumpy if I wore them. For me it isn't to do with comfort because I have harem pants that are really comfortable yet never feel frumpy. If you work this out let me know

Wow, my face is grumpy here! I'm halfway through the day and the comfort factor is trumping grump and frump feelings. Will need to find other ways to feel stylish in them!

This looks perfectly fine, Una. Maybe you are confusing frumpy with lack of structure. All the pieces are soft. Perhaps a crisp item via belt, or blazer, or button down would make you feel better?

Seriously, I am with the camp that does not see anything frumpy in this. Is it maybe because they feel a bit like the dreaded "stretch pants" of years gone by? They don't look like it, but I can understand.

I think you look good! To me, the booties and cardigan bring enough coolness to this outfit, and if it feels really comfortable, that's a great bonus!
