I attended a HH on Friday with a group of fab ladies that I've had the pleasure of working with for the last 14-odd years, but who have moved on to other companies in the last year or so. The last to 'fly the nest' is leaving next week, leaving me the most tenured employee with many good memories of the work we've done bringing a new type of cancer therapy to patients.
I didn't dress specifically for this occasion, and had I known that all the beautiful people of Seattle would be in the bar we patronized, I might have put more effort into it. I determined on Thursday night that I wanted to work with an inspiration piece that is a closet orphan, so I chose a silk scarf that I rarely wear. It is a lovely plum on one side and tan, black and cream plaid on the other (with a red stripe). I was dying to wear warm, rain-proof shoes, so out came the plum Aquatalia wedge booties. From there, I chose a matching plum cashmere tunic and my trusty charcoal ponte and leather pants because I don't have any khaki ones and because the leather echoes that on the elbow patches of the sweater. The bag is a dark grey patent. I like the combo well enough, but struggled with what to do with the scarf. I tried tucking it in the sweater and knotting it in front (as seen here) but it kept moving around and ended up being very fussy. Any wild ideas out there for what to do with it next time? Sew it to my sweater, lol? I'm wondering if I should add a pair of non-chino tan/khaki pants to my arsenal for versatility...anybody having similar thoughts? Thanks for hanging with me and sharing any insights you may have.
