WIW Fri - quick change after work to go out for tacos

I finished my morning shift by 2 and was hungry for lunch. Since I now only live 5 minutes from work (yay!) I can head home for a change. so nice to not go out in my uniform. My BF wasn't so lucky
But, anyway, I started with the animal print top since it had a backward hanger (for items worn but not yet dirty) and I figured another wear would have it ready for the wash. The next issue was my feet. After not working for 2 years, I decided flat boots would be good after standing for 3 days straight. Grabbed the crop white jacket since the wind was blowing. Pants weren't as easy. I thought about black skinnies but tried the grey cargo cords. Wasn't feeling it, and after looking at the pic, it made the boots seem very dark and the jacket very light. Not balanced. Decided good old blue jeans would do the trick and my feather look earrings to tie in some blue up top.
This took less than 5 minutes all told. Didn't even take my waitress bun out lol. This was one of those figure it out as you go things, no picture in my head or anything. Nothing that special, but I felt so much better than if I'd headed to the casino in my golf uniform.
Off to catch up and see what everyone else has been wearing!

Like the top & white jacket. I actually prefer the out take. I like the way the cargoes echo the grey in the leopard top.

Perfect! Small change, big dividends in terms of the final outcome.

I love reading about the way outfits are planned or just happen to come together, because it's in putting together pieces that I struggle the most. I can often figure out what will work in theory, but not how to make it work with *existing* pieces in my wardrobe. Of course, might just mean poor strategy, but still.

I think the grab-and-go-ability is one of the signs of a great wardrobe - high five! And how cool that you can change for lunch... some days I'd give my right foot for a change and a nap!

Thanks ladies! I do love my new white jacket. And to think it's all from SYC. I tried on the AE one on the drive across country and didn't touch it because we were out of work and heading home! Because of that I stumbled upon this one over a month later at Ross. Cheaper and better fitting!

As for the job, it's going great! I got kinda busy on my first shift alone. But luckily I wasn't really alone, the cart girl was there for a few hours setting up her bev cart and helped a few customers at the bar while I was busy with others. She even drove out some sandwiches to guys who couldn't wait for the back log from the cook to tee off. Helped sooo much. It's a very upbeat atmosphere. Even though we're all working, we are doing our best to enjoy it! Tonight I do my first banquet. Black and whites. I had to save a shirt I was waffling on for some time, that was crammed in a bag for donation in the back of the car. Just in the nick of time! It's the 'toilet paper' shirt. Not fashionable anymore but just fine for a uniform where I might spill on the white and ruin it.

Rae, I hadn't thought about the grab and go ability of my closet before. Thanks for enlightening me. I really do have great mix and match options. Nearly everything has at least 3 or 4 other friends it can play with. Add to that at least 3 different (sometimes many more) shoe options and maybe a couple topper changes and there's a lot to play with!

How nice to be working again? I know I love time off, but when I have too much of it then it's not nearly as special. . . Plus, I do love paychecks too
