WIW Fri - indoor vs outdoor light

Had the benefit of my BF home at lunch time so I took advantage and a) had him drive me to the store so I only had to walk home one way and b) had him take an outdoor picture. Wouldn't you know it, a neighbor was indeed right there, probably wondering what the heck we were doing lol. Oh, well. I can just tell them I'm from L.A. and I can't help it HA!

I didn't actively try to work in an accessory today. I guess you could count my wallet/purse as an accessory. I often carry just it when walking. Lightens my load compared to a big bag loaded down.

And not that it matters, but everything cost under $15 brand new, except the jacket ($25).

Well, here in rainy Oregon I much prefer the outside shot in the sun! That's a great casual outfit - the sleeveless jacket and purse are both awesome and really make it seem intentional....

Yeah....I'm with Nadya...just looking at that sunshine makes me shake my head in wonder. I'm just back from grey Vancouver.

Having said that....the clothes look good in both lights! And it looks as if you are getting a reasonably accurate representation of colours and such indoors, which is often the problem.

I like those skinnies.

Mo I love this casual outfit for the way you have harmonised items of similar colour. Although the colour scheme is fairly neutral overall, it is full of interest with the varied textures, patterns and detailing. The vest in particular looks awesome - it takes a simple jeans-and-top outfit to another level; and with your long neck, you can so wear those avant-garde, high collar styles - a totally NOW look. And I must say that from my monitor, the colour scheme really seems to show off your skin tone and hair - especially in the outdoor shot .
I prefer outdoor shots because the colours always are more true, and the stronger lighting gives greater definition and clarity and more information. Also, outdoor shots allow the camera to be placed further away, which means that the shot is less likely to create the slightly distorted body proportions that we nearly always see from from room shots, where the camera is necessarily placed very close, and sometimes at an angle.
Of course, outdoor shots are not really an option most of the time and for most people, so indoor shots will continue to be the norm for practical reasons; but an occasional outdoor shot is a treat, when you can arrange it!

Well, thanks everyone! Didn't mean to rub in the weather for those in grey dreary spots! It's finally not 85+ here, so I am actually enjoying it. I suffered mightily for 4 months though if it makes you all feel better
LBG, thanks for the detailed response! I might try the outdoor here while I can. When I get back to CA it will be snowing (it is already) so back inside I will go.
The pants have a cool seaming detail down the front that doesn't show well in pics but gives them a little bit of riding pants vibe.

Love the vest and jeans together! Very cute outfit. Both pictures look good but I have a preference for outside. Just because I love outside shots, I try to take them myself although they take a lot longer to find locations to prop the camera, get the dogs out of the picture, mess with the timer etc. So much quicker to do it indoors.

LOL about the neighbors. Sometimes I drive to different streets to take outside self-portraits and it can be a lazy day with no one on the street and suddenly people are coming out and looking at me. I think they think I am up to no good! They peek behind the curtains and look at me as if to say, we have a neighborhood watch, what are you doing in our neighborhood.

I actually prefer the indoor light in this case BUT that is because the daylight is a bit harsh; if you took the photo earlier or later in the day so the sun isn't overhead, then I'd be all over the outdoor thing (plus I can see your cute shoes outside ). Your sun looks yummy! It's 45F here already -_-

Thanks Aida! I have a lot to learn with the outdoor thing for sure. It's going to be 2 overnight at our house in Tahoe tomorrow. A friend drove over in the snow last night to re light our pilots on the furnaces. I'll be in for a shock soon

The outfit is awesome. I do appreciate the outside shot, a lot, because I can see the contrast between the colors a lot better, even with the harsh lighting.

I love this outfit! The seaming on the pants is something I'm particularly fond of. Love the printed top and this version of the VS jacket: fab indeed! Good thing you had a great outfit ready to go.

The pic was taken at high noon. Should I try for standing in the shade or just earlier or later time when the sun is not so overhead?
