Angie, you made my heart sing and my body did a happy dance when I read your post. Thank you; your words mean so much to me. Of course, I will take you with me next time; just name the date.
I was a bit reluctant to post, because I went with a “themed” bordering on costumey-style outfit, but Angie’s rule of having fun with fashion was the rule of the day.
Kelly and Shevia, merci, and, oui, Shevia, my teacher, Sabine, is in the red top with the long dark hair. She’s a real treasure and is doing this for free, which I find simply amazing. Sadly, she is not going to be able to continue after the spring and we’re all panicking and lamenting this and hope something will work out.
Suz and Firecracker, it was fun and although I’m not one to usually wear hats, with the rainy weather we’ve been having, this cloche was just what I needed. Thank you.
Karymk and Joy, yes, learning a new language with others is exciting and invigorating to say the least. It opens up so much more in life.
Deb and Inge, thank you and it’s fun to dress the part on occasion and, as a sweet lover, I can easily eat crepes to authenticate the moment.
Crutcher and Sveta, ah, you always make me smile and I’m glad you’ve missed me. Toasting Coco here with my tea and guess I’ll have to wear this hat more often now that winter is approaching, even in California.
Aubergine and Classically Casual, thank you both, and CC what fun to eat French for a week at home. I may have to try that! Oui, on-site research, I love the way you think.
Jackiec and Transcona Shannon, appreciate your comments and I am putting France on the front burner and contemplating joining one of my classmates if there is still room on her small tour for next May, ou mai!
Lisie and Dana, thanks and I do see the Daisy B notes here, too. I have been to France twice, but it was quite some time ago, like over 10 years ago, when I went to Paris and Provence. No time like the present, as they say.
Claire and Rachylou, you bring smiles and, yes, my classmates are already having a major influence. Rachylou, thank goodness for Google Translate as you are light years ahead of me, and how pretty this poem is!
Chouette22, merci! I do want to travel to France very soon and how exciting to hear you are a French professor. There’s something about learning with like-minded, eager, curious people of all ages. We want to learn something new and it’s exhilarating and I always leave the class with a big smile on my face.
I sat with my book “French in 10 Minutes a Day” (I’ve since bought a few more, including, “The Everyday French Grammar Book’) and I was happy and delighted with it: the learning, the quiet moment of repetitive discovery and the possibilities and dreams of one day traveling again to France and seeing it with new, appreciative eyes. I actually look forward to my Monday-morning class and find my entire inner and outer energy level dances with excitement. Even with my distant memories of high school French, it’s the joy of learning, the mutual camaraderie at being a novice in my current class, understanding a different culture and so much more.
