WIW: Formula Dressing... Now With Leather!

A few WIW from the last week or so. My jeans + button down + blazer formula seems to have morphed into a jeans + button down + leather jacket formula.

I am pretty pleased with how 1 and 2 came out. 4 is a repeat and is comfy and a good way to wear this previously orphaned sweater while feeling fresh and somewhat current. Of course, there is always room for improvement so tell me what you see. If the proportion is off etc.

Now #3... It felt cool when I was wearing it since sci fi silver and fair isle cant get too much farther apart. In the photos I am not sure if it was working as well as it was in my mental scenario. (The jacket is a clothing trade item from my sister and totally worth the stack of shirts and sweaters i gave her!)

As for #5, I am deeming it a fail. I think the shirt hem and jacket hem lengths just arent doing it. I wonder if the jeans in #2 that are looser in the hip would be an improvement? Maybe tucked in shirt next time with this jacket?

My favorites are #2 and #4. I think the proportions in #5 are good, with the blouse just a bit longer than the jacket - I am just not sure about the jacket itself. It looks a little big or off in the photo (but it might just be this photo). I like the jeans and jacket in #1 but I think the blouse is a bit long under it - very pretty color though. In #3 I want a different, lighter top but love the gold and white combination. Hope that is not too many suggestions!

The pink shirt in the first pic seems a bit long to me. I like all the outfits but number three is my favorite, it's interesting.

I like the silver jacket a lot, but not necessarily in this outfit because that sweater is so perfect fitting on its own and striking with the white jeans.

#5 - hmm. Maybe the shirt tail should be longer(like in #1)? Maybe the jacket is a bit too big? Not sure if swapping the jeans would make 'the' difference, whatever it is.

#3 is fun, I would personally do a simpler top, without a pattern, so the jacket really steals the show but it not bad at all. I think a semi tuck would look good with #5.

I love #3! I think the pairing with the dark sweater is unexpected, but you make it work by extending the jacket's line with the pants and the shoes. I like #5 too--I think I'm looking at things *not* the same as the others!

My faves are #4&5.... I think that shade of pink is great with your skin tone! I love the white pants also! The pink shoes in the first pic, try with the last outfit. I would like to see how that looks:-)

I'm with Shevia --- 2 and 3 are amazing as is. #3 -- I swap out a simpler top -- maybe a simple knit in a bright color? #5 -- I feel like the jacket is fighting your shape instead of flowing with it.

I'm still in boots and shoveling snow here. Sigh.

Columbine -- I really like unexpected and interesting combos too I thik this pink shirt in #1 might be better to be a tucked in top.

MNSara -- 2 is my fave too Thanks for the thoughts on 5, I think you are right--it isnt the jeans.

Zap -- Thanks for the semi tuck tip for 5. I highly doubt my week was batter than yours. Everything I have ever seen of yours is AMAZING! But thank you for the compliment

Adelfa -- I didnt think of the pants in 3 as extending the jacket but since they are in the same color family I do see it now that you mention it.

Bree -- Good idea for the plum shoes with #5, i love a matchy look

Beth Ann -- Sorry to hear about the snow... although I do miss having a proper winter sometimes. I will definitely try lots of different top with the silver jacket. You will all get sick of seeing it I am sure!

All in all, I am left wondering if the color/texture of jacket in 5 perhaps doesnt photograph well. I feel IRL the jacket fit is actually quite good. I will have to eval some more...

I like 2 -- I might steal this idea and wear my red teacup shirt, white moto, and jeans! Thanks for the inspiration.

The silver jacket is nifty --- I think it would look better with a different toned sweater underneath, although I appreciate the juxtaposition you created.

I love your bottle green moto as well.

Ooooh.....love #2! So crisp and bright looking - great pairing of the jacket and blouse. Also really like #4 - the fair isle sweater against the crisp white jeans is fabulous. BTW what brand are those white jeans? I love the fit and straight leg on those.

Shannon -- the white jeans are actually Levi's 515 bootcuts (I have two identical pairs! so fav they are they both get washed with every white load!) I struggle to find straights I like...
