WIW for Mom's birthday party

Oh dear. I felt pretty fab last night, but looking at this picture I'm not so sure. I think the belt fit better than it appears here. Belt and earrings are orange. We had a great time. We took her to a swanky Italian restaurant and then came back to our house for birthday cake.

I'm not 100% in love with the nude shoe with this. What say you, Fabbers?

I think you look lovely. I am sure the belt looked better in real. For shoes I think cognac (or rust/orange) would be stunner. This doesn't look off either. But in case you are looking for options

You look so ladylike and I love the orange accents! I can kind of see what you mean about the shoes, since the color looks just different enough from the gray in the dress to be a little distracting, but don't think it's too bad. I like Neel's suggestion of cognac or rust, and could also see anything in a fun color working well with the dress. Or maybe white? Or a gray snakeskin?

And the cake looks amazing!

Neel, I've been on the lookout for orange flats since I saw a woman wearing fab ones last fall. I hadn't thought of wearing them with this dress. How fun!

This is very pretty and understated. I think the shoes are flattering. You could go with a bigger statement but on your Mom's birthday, she's the center of attention rather than you.

Such a very stylish outfit- you look completely gorgeous!
I like the nude shoes with this outfit- it keeps the focus on the orange accents (a perfect pairing with this grey!), plus the patterned dress is a feature all on it's own! I love those sleeves-so soft and feminine!

I think the dress is very pretty on you and has a nice print and a flowy fabric. I agree that the belt gives a nice pop of color.
The shoes are nice, too as they are nude color and elongate the leg.
I hope you all enjoyed your Mom's birthday. That cake looks like a great final touch, can we get a taste, too?
