Back in January my sweet husband and I were cleaning out the garage when we came across the duffle bag with his Army National Guard uniform, circa 1971. It was a little snug, but we decided to have it cleaned and pressed and thought maybe he could wear it for his upcoming birthday in October.

Well. A few weeks ago a friend invited us to an event known as Dining Out, which is apparently a revered military tradition in which servicemembers and veterans get together for a formal dinner. Hubby tried on his uniform, and lo and behold, after two rounds of Whole 30, it fit (photo 1)! So he decided to go, and I was lucky enough to get a new ballgown out of the deal! Oh, and one of our friends who was also present said I looked "like Cinderella all grown up," which may be the nicest compliment I've ever received!

The even was held in a very swanky private club in downtown LA. As you can see from the photo, very fancy indeed! (Look at that ceiling in the dining room!) So fun! They even had a bagpiper to pipe us in to the dining room!

Thanks for looking and letting me share!

(Bonus pic of us celebrating our first wedding anniversary last Sunday, wearing our wedding gown and wedding suit!)
