Today I have a day of labwork followed by a dessert reception at the Boston Bar Association (J is a lawyer, and his firm sponsored a table), so it's another day of disparate events of different degrees of dressiness for which I have to wear a single outfit. Thankfully the benefit today is not a cocktail dress one, as the day-to-night thing works much better in cooler weather when more layering is possible. I'm not actually sure what the dress code for this benefit is, but in the photos from last year's event it looks like most people are in some type of business wear (ranging from biz cas to full suits) so I think they are just wearing what they wore to work at the law firm. However, I work in a lab, not a law firm, so I decided to wear my fun printed draped pencil skirt with a simple black shell and black shoes/bag. (I think I have a wardrobe hole for a dressy, light colored big bag by the way...) The jacket is in case there is heavy AC or if I feel like I want to look more businessy. I had considered wearing my white blazer but chocolate fountain + white clothing = recipe for disaster!
Yoana Baraschi skirt (via Anthro), BR shell, Taryn Rose shoes, Aqua jacket, Maxx New York bag.
