WIW for a cool rainy day in the desert

It is cool and rainy in Palm Springs today. This is what I put on this morning for a walk around the historic Tennis Club District before the rain started.

We moved hotels today and are now sequestered in our room in what might just be the sweetest little hotel ever.

The parachute pants are new from Zara, inspired by Janet. They’ve had about five wears since we arrived here.

The shell is a fave from last summer. Heathered sweater is a couple of years old. Necessary for layering when the desert sun goes behind a cloud. White Tevas are practical for walking and are water-friendly.

Still not sure if I have the optimal styling for these pants, but I wanted to start wearing them. Not really seeing anyone here in wide or loose pants, but I did see lots of awesome baggy styles when I stopped into the Free People store the other night.

Here’s the rainy view from our room today. It’s a lovely place to start a New Year.

Northern CA got quite bit of rain too. Probably nothing compared to what you get in Washington and Oregon but it's a lot by Bay Area standards.Pool looks inviting despite the rain! Can't see the pants but I'm betting you look fab!

Just swapped these pants for the new Zara sweats , which have also had a ton of wear on this trip (cool evenings). Possibly my favourite purchase of 2022.

Ooh, I like them styled for warm weather! Great with the sandals and top. I think they’ll be super useful for our hot summers when I don’t love a lot of fabric touching my skin.

I’m thinking of wearing mine tomorrow since the weather is mild here at home. It was just too cold in Quebec to wear them unless I layered two layers beneath! But I enjoyed them in NYC with a Heattech layer.

I like how the parachute pants look almost like wide legged trousers on you, but just a bit more tapered at the ends. It's JFE.

I also like how you 'go with' the hotel room Maybe it's because I prefer to relax when on holiday (rather than having a packed itinerary) but I can't stand it when a room's decor is too loud/ all over the place. This one is calming whilst still having visual interest. Enjoy it!

Janet - I actually found them a bit hot in the heat - but then I don’t usually wear full length pants in warmer weather. Perfect for temperate conditions. Not sure how or if I will wear them when I return home to serious winter conditions!

Thanks, Zaeobi. Yes, that was a lovely, serene hotel. Now we’ve moved to one with lots of colour, including a bright green wall behind the bed and multicoloured bedding — and I kind of love it.

Thanks, Jussie. I think they will turn out to be pretty practical. Certainly not precious and I suspect I will turn to them Instead of jeans quite often.

Even in the rain that place looks gorgeous, its been raining here, but somehow it’s doesn’t look quite the same as where you are, just a little envious.
Your parachute pants look breezy and cool, perfect with those sandals, love your top and the sweater over the shoulders just adds to the relaxed vibe.

The hotel looks awesome. I read a NZ fashion mag back in 2016 or so that had features set in Palm Springs which I had barely heard of before that. The summer clothes they were showcasing looked amazing there! I bought one of the caftans when I saw it on sale a year or so later… still have it. I didn’t look like the blonde 6 foot model they had in it though

Suntiger - come on in - the air is cool but the water is very (actually too) warm!
