WIW: first week teaching

Here's a whole week of WIW's part of trying to post more. I liked what I wore; Friday was my favorite and I'm wearing a version today on Saturday!

1= Monday, teaching
2,3 = Tuesday, teaching
4,5 = office day
6,7 = home day (7 is close up of necklace, bought at a craft fair.
8-10 = office day and meetings (sort of an Angie formula, boots + scarf + Jacket)

It's no wonder you liked what you wore! All interesting and varied outfits! You look terrific in every single one of them. 4/5 steals my heart--the stipes and the red jacket look amazing. Love the Angie formula in 8 too. You have fab style, Isis! I'd be happy in any one of these looks and if I ever owned dress pants, I would want to look just like you in 2/3! Adore!

ETA: What is your aspirational style? Do I know your descriptors?

You had a fab week of outfits. The apple green top in #6 just makes my heart sing. My favourite are #1 and 8. So stylish and comfy! and yes, like Kelly I want to know your style descriptors.

Thanks Kelly! I don't know what my descriptors are. Angie dubbed me Bicycle Chic Tomboy which works for me. The only thing I really care about is to feel interesting and also comfortable. I find androgeny interesting (pretty vague!) For example the booties in 8-11 are too high to walk fast in and I won't buy 3 inch heels, even chunky ones, again.

Love #4 and #5, but all the outfits look Fab.

You look like how I want to look -- and I don't mean that only as a compliment. There are a lot of folks on the forum whose WiWs I love, but their style is too far from mine for it to be inspirational except in a push-me-out-of-my-comfort-zone kind of way.

But your style (like Kellygirl's) feels in the same ballpark as what I'm going for (except you guys are in much better seats:). I'm pinning these pictures as possible copycat outfits. You're killing the dress pants, BTW!

Runnerchick, we also crossposted! Thanks for the complement! Keep posting WIW's; I'm a long way from where I started even though I am a slow learner!

I enjoy everybody's style but there are a few that I always pay close attention to, and I think that helps me learn (yeah, Kellygirl has always been one of my faves!) I'll start following your posts too, RC!

Wow, Isis, these are all 11's! Love each one. You look smashing in the orangy red blouse in 1 and 2. It looks like the famous and fabulous BR sweater in 4 and 5 (I have the white black striped version, don't you just love how versatile it is?) And the ensemble with the gray blazer is so chic and flattering. LOVE it!

Such a great week! First -- I love you hair. The shape is feminine and flattering, but the chunky color and razory-edges give it a little punch.

1, 4-5 and 8-10 are my faves. Phenomenal and very wearable. You have nice variety here (which I crave), but still show a clear sense of your own style --- whatever you choose to call it.

None of my professors ever looked this good! It's hard to pick a favorite, but I'll go with your cool Friday look. I love the curved hem of the jacket and the scrunchy sleeves.

But I do love Thursday's deep red necklace with the green top. . . and the coral blouse on Tuesday. . .

I am glad to see you posting WIW again! Everything looks great!

I always like your juxtaposing soft blouses with structured trousers or jackets (#1). The animal belt in #2-3 is a fun touch. The BR sweater looks really good with the red jacket, and your interpretation of Angie's formula is great, too.

I am teaching 3 days a week right now, too.

I love all you have posted here. I am so copying the black trousers look as well as the black boots tucked into jeans plus leather jacket.

Wow, Isis, you look absolutely smashingly mind-blowiningly radiant in #1. WOW. And I want your jacket. So I think you need to tell me what it is. Thank you.

After all, we are already sweater and boot twins!! (#4, #5)!! I think I might just have to do a copycat of that!

And do you ever look wonderful in that Gibson jacket.

Oh, Mighty Isis! How do I count the ways I love these outfits? Let me at least try...

First off, you look so YOU in all of these, and I don't even know ya! ;~) I'm just saying you seem very comfortable in these looks, chic, polished, and with that *je ne sais quoi* that the French ladies have down pat. Confidence in your style.

Next, thank you and RunnerChick and KellyGirl for making me realize, in this thread, that I have a tomboy style. I always go for outfits that could possibly lend themselves to tree climbing or something involving dirt, so, duh, I guess I am a tomboy. I usually use words like "androgynous" but that's way too grown up for the way I dress / am.

Highlights of your looks:
* the "short over long" of your jackets over tops
* the effortless scrunch of your blazer sleeves
* the lovely green sweater
* the dynamite "flaming heart" necklace (WOW! What kind of stone is that?)
* the equestrian vibe of your grey blazer, very good silhouette on you

I know, I'm gushing, but you deserve it. Thank you for these inspirational photos. You may be a slow learner, but now the student is the master.

I just love your two toned hair so much!

(I actually don't wear scarves all that much anymore - just when I need to for the cold, or heat, but not really for decoration).

You look AMAZING! And all these outfits are an 11 out of 10. You could have been an Urban Prince if you had short hair!

Jonesy-- I'm actually going to be teaching Mon, Tues, AND Thurs most weeks this semester; the most I've ever done. Two of my three classes are easier seminars though.

sarah--you've been busy; haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope your year is going well. When do you leave for the Netherlands?

Suz--we are sweater and boot twins! Plus I have the python Petty booties on order so perhaps we shall share more. The jacket is an Angie NAS pick from 2011. It was made by Trouve, and called the "shrunken jacket". It's a soft gray plaid, and really lovely as you'd expect from an Angie pick. Sveta just wore hers last week or so; she has it in camel. It's a great jacket!

JulieJohn--you are too sweet! Welcome to the tomboy club. It's for those of us who don't understand the question others post "is this too masculine"? And who want to be able to climb trees, jump fences, and run in our everyday clothes (even if we don't......we COULD!) The "stone" in the necklace is actually plastic! It's very lightweight.

Angie--thanks! You know I could be an Urban Prince, (except for the hair) now that you mention it---I relate more to polished looks and not so much to RATE or distressing. Interesting that a prince can be casual. AND I misremembered your fall formula:
Jeans + blouse + blazer + flats. No scarf in there! I can see why you don't wear scarves with your attraction to minimal accessories...I really like your streamlined outfits!
