This is the last week of school and we are in a flurry of activity. Yesterday was Field Day (the bounce house and the sponge run were the most popular, followed by the obstacle course).

It was a good day to wear my “message wear”. Sorry about the reverse image on my Choose Kind shirt. My slip on sneakers eased me through the day, across the tar, through the grass and under and over obstacles (thank goodness I was not assigned to the dunk tank)!
I’m not sure if you can see them, but my jeans have little anchors on them....kinda cute for our coastal community.

Today we have our final First Grade Singing, a huge Author Celebration and 8th Grade Promotion. Tomorrow is our Step Up Day (where each class visits and meets the teachers in the next grade) and the last student day. My gifts to my students are all assembled and hidden in my closet. Phew!

On Friday we have a staff breakfast, meetings and time to pack up our classrooms and do record keeping. THEN I’ll be back more frequently to join you in some fashion fun!

You look perfect for Field Day! And I am jealous that you have a bounce house for yours, too! Our last principal had a carnival-type event near the end of the year with bounce houses and a dunk tank, but Field Day for us is firmly a phy ed event.

Thanks, Echo. Our field day used to be mostly a phys ed event, but has grown over the years, to add options and 10 stations of activities. It takes a lot to organize it, but our kids love it.
Thanks, JAileen. We have a pretty special school. I love working there. Tomorrow, when the children depart for the summer, all staff will line the drive way, display signs, use noisemakers and shout out great summer wishes to our students. The school resource officer drives the cruiser in front of the buses. They all circle around twice and beep their horns. We make a racket, but give the kids a great send off.
Suz, I do like to have a plan and it is easy to find a few teaching points, no matter what we are doing....if clothing helps, well that is a bonus!

Your outfit looks just great and happy, and you’re reminding me of some wonderful graduation days in the past when I used to be a lecturer. In fact it makes me a little choked up, even years later! I am still in touch with former students and I bet you are too. Congratulations to you on changing the world this year through your patience and hard work.

Thanks Aquamarine. Teachers do work hard and the job is not getting easier. This has been my toughest year in all of my 35 years as an educator. None of it has to do with the students or actually teaching, but with the other layers of responsibilities that take place before and after the student day.
Awwww, Jessikams. The relationships we build extend well beyond the short time we spend with our students. I have several families where I taught the parent and am now teaching the second generation. Life long connections!

Yes, I agree. I have teachers in my extended family and nothing is easy anymore. Society issues, funding, lack of parental support...I don’t think
your career is as appreciated as it could be but know you are doing GOOD work.

Sorry, Joy. I missed your post. It is crazy busy. Yes, I will be in the same room and while I do need to pack up and store my things, I do have good storage space. I am good at organizing and making the best use of what space I have. It is much easier than bringing lots of things home to store.

Yours is a sad but true statement Aquamarine. This year has taken an emotional toll, too. We have several children with mental health issues and anxiety seems to be on the rise. Recently, events have caused extreme heartache for two of our local families. Events that are unheard of in our little town. It has been horrific.
As a school and community we have been devastated and rocked to the centers of our souls. We have also stepped up to support the family, siblings, our other students and each other. Heavy, heavy hearts.
