WIW: favorite vintage print

amiable

This shirt is a favorite of mine - it's a toile print (it's got detailed scenes printed on it), and it's super soft, and very vintage.

But I have no idea how to style it. Today I tried with red jeans and a brown sweater underneath for warmth. I think it sorta worked, but could be improved - I just don't know how.

Even so, I like the shirt so much that it felt happy.

Suggestions?

Hmm, I wonder how it would look with jeans and cognac boots, or perhaps chocolate skinnies, with a half tuck and booties.

That is truly a pretty print. I think this looks lovely as-is, but maybe you're looking for a touch of deliberated modernity. I'm with you in not knowing how to do that. What does the shirt look like untucked? I like the idea of chocolate skinnies. What about scrunching the sleeves?

I really like this shirt but think it would stand out more with darker bottoms. How long is it? Could it be styled as loose over skinny?

I think it would look pretty good with my brown skinny cords - next time I'll wear it like that. The shirt is hip-length - maybe three inches longer than where it's tucked in - so not really long enough for loose over skinnies - but fine with a not-too-skinny skinny like my cords. Thanks for the suggestions!

I can see it with blue or black denim skinnies, and shoes/belt that match the pant so as not to compete with the shirt.
I would also try it buttoned up one more with a cami underneath that doesn't show- all to let it 'shine' on its own.
I would also try rolling the sleeves to show some skin, or just scrunching the cuffs.

That shirt is so beautiful! I would love to see this with dark wash blue denim and maybe without the top underneath. This looks good though:)

i like the shirt with the red jeans, but instead of a brown sweater underneath it, i would like to see something lighter in color, or more in the color zone of the jeans. in the thumbnail photo that just showed the jeans and the shirt, the shirt showed as much more vivid, i think the brown underneath is toning it down.

I like this is a lower contrast look but I agree with the suggestions, the shirt is very pretty and can be brought more into focus. Maybe it will work better as a spring item when you won't need something underneath for warmth?

I love the shirt and like how you've styled it here. I agree with others that the dark shirt underneath is a little distracting. Maybe the underlayer could be a softer neutral like grey or a color to match the shirt.
