I am slightly older than you, I think -- I was 17 in 1990, so it was the year I graduated from high school, which means I associate grunge with the university years and the freedom that came with that. What you're wearing today is pretty much exactly what I wore for all of 1991/92, burgundy Docs and all. (We share a fondness for burgundy footwear!). We didn't roll our jeans here so much as let them slouch over the boots, as you have.
I feel the same way about 90s fashion -- not exactly 'high style', but I'm fond of the grungy looks because it coincided with my introduction to adulthood and (relative) freedom.
Except I was not a fan of the baby tee with spaghetti-strap dress look. But lots of my friends wore it!
