Sorry I didn't get a better shot from the front--I was with my mom and we were in a hurry after this one was taken. I posed like that so I could send this to a friend who's as obsessed with Labyrinth as I am and say there was no sign of the Goblin King.
The striped tunic and saddle shoes are two more of my new purchases, and I LOVE them. Especially the shoes. I wore them around my apartment the day they arrived to break them in and they're really comfortable.
The experiment was layering the long tunic over a short skirt, and I'm happy with how it worked. I have long legs and a short torso, so I usually don't like to tuck my shirts. It felt like an extreme take on elongating my torso. Plus the long hooded plush cardigan, which I've had for a good 8 years now. It's from Target and it's held up surprisingly well after all this time. It was somewhat on hold for the last couple of years because I was enjoying newer toppers, but I'm happy to be wearing it again.
My mom, who wore saddle shoes as a kid, LOVED them. My dad said they reminded him of some mean girls he knew, but didn't HATE them. They both said they were blinded by how white they are. They aren't used to seeing me in white shoes; I've always had a STRONG presence for black, or other dark colors. But I'm liking this change. They feel different from my usual in the best way possible!
I think I'm liking the retro thing. I want to introduce MORE retro items to play with this year.
