Angie's post this morning made me very happy, as the trumpet skirt is my favorite shape of skirt of all time, and it is virtually non-existent in stores right now. I have been hanging on to this old jersey one (along with my longer blue one) for years now, even though it is definitely past its prime (the jersey is pilling and it's shrunk a little in length). I'm excited to hopefully finally be able to replace it soon, but in the meantime I was inspired by the NYFW outfits to pull it out. Since it seemed like a lot of the outfits had shades of red and pink, I chose my drapey floral blouse in those colors. I first tried this look with my white blazer a la many of Angie's pinned ouffits but it felt too formal for lab, so I opted for my white denim jacket instead.

We've also been talking about upscale leather backpacks making a comeback, so I decided to pull out my metallic Elliott Lucca backpack. For those of you who were worried about pickpockets, I'll point out that this particular backpack actually has a full zip top underneath the magnetic flap closure. That and the fact that it is quite deep (I put my wallet at the bottom!) is a pretty good theft deterrent, I think.

I am also mixing metallics again today with my silvery backpack and gold-toned shoes.
