I was pregnant/BF last winter so this dress got no love and I was excited to pull it out and wear it again. These WIW pics are killing me, I'm not sure I like it on me as much as I thought. Should it be more tapered? Longer?
#1 - is how I've always worn it; opaques and Danskos. Sometimes I'll add a black necklace or scarf to book end.
#2 - being mindful of the book ending issues I put on this cable knit/faux fur vest with it. Does this work at all?

#3 - close up of sweater vest details.

Any suggestions welcome.

It is a little short but with tights you can probably get away with it. Have you tried it with leggings?

Great color on you! You look nice. If I'm being nitpicky, I think you might be on to something with tapering at the bottom. To my eye, it's a little too flared to be an A-line shift, but too loose to be a fit and flare. I'm no expert though, so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt.

I am not sure why you don't like it. But I love the look on you. The cable knit fur vest is so unique on its own. You look fab!

I think the dress is lovely on you. For me it would be a bit short but I could see that being rectified by adding a fitted knee length knit skirt under it. This would create some length and a cool layered effect:)

I'm surprised by the vest love. I loved it too but wasn't sure if it was just the warm and cozy factor. Thanks for your input. And I may try it with leggings and tall boots as some of you suggested.

To me both are equally nice. They look very good on you. Don't doubt this beautiful dress for a minute. And don't taper it (in my humble opinion).

I think adding the vest was brilliant. It balances the hemline, and also gives the dress some kind of increased "presence" and structure, and echoes the dark hose and shoes.
