It got cold! Yay!

With a high in the lower 40s today (7° C), I got to pull out the new things. I wore the NAS Eileen Fisher sweater (2 wears) with a silk tank (26 wears) beneath, Athleta leggings (23+ wears), new Born boots (5 wears already!), and the Pendleton blanket scarf (1 wear!).

Yeah, it's leggings-as-pants, but I figured the sweater is long enough to get away with it (longer in back than front) for a mostly a work-at-home day. I'm feeling cozy and comfortable.

I was not expecting to like this sweater because of how the model is wearing it. However, I LOVE it on you. It looks gorgeous and I love the way you styled it.

Question: how come that back flap is not hanging down on you like the model? Is the flap shorter in real life?

gryffin, I totally associate the leggings and booties look with you. My husband has an aunt who wears this look all the time in the winter and it looks so good on her. I think it's a classic now.

Emily K and shevia, most of my wardrobe is neutrals, so I think mixing them is becoming a kind of signature for me. Especially the black and brown...gray is new this year!

karen13 and JenniNZ, besides just liking the pattern, one of the reasons I chose this scarf was that it has black AND gray AND tan in the design. I think that will make it super-useful for me.

Firecracker, the scarf is great because it's cozy, but still lightweight. I think it'll carry me through a lot of different weather.

Sterling, hah! it's probably just because my thighs are wider than the model's and covering the shape from the front. The hem is kind of a spiral shape, if you can picture that. It's highest on my front left and lowest on the back left. Pretty useful for covering the "assets" as Athleta always puts it.

JAileen, I'm loving this cool October! Happily, it'll be back up in the 70s and dry this weekend for an outdoor craft show I'm doing.

I like this far better on you than on the model. I just couldn't imagine having that thing flapping around behind me as I walk. It would drive me batshit crazy.

By the way, I commend your love of Eileen Fisher. I discovered the brand here on YLF (from someone named Shannon and Joy). Seeing you wear it makes me appreciate it even more. I love how it translates to real life.

I am jealous of your colder weather. We are 60sF in the morning but go up to 70s by the afternoon and later this week we are back to 80! Where is fall?! Lovely outfit, I especially like the layering of the necklace and scarf here.

Laura and RobinF, I confess, I just mix neutrals willy-nilly. I might have just lucked into a wardrobe (I didn't really plan it carefully) that all works together tonally. I'm sure some shades of brown wouldn't work as well with some shades of gray. Or maybe they would if you form a complement, as Angie suggests for accessories.

Style Fan... tights? I would feel weird wearing them with a shorter top.

Lisa, we're having some days more like that this week, with 70s in the afternoons. We had 40s in the morning, though! I often do the necklace + scarf thing for that very reason. Allows me to take off the scarf in the afternoon and still feel pulled-together.

fashiontern - yes! This would totally work for a show, except I might want something other than a tank underneath. Layers are useful when you're not able to control the temperature and have varying levels of activity.

Sterling, haha! I love having things flapping behind me. It always makes me feel like I'm confidently striding into action like some sort of action her. I discovered EF from the forum too and was initially intimidated by the prices. I've built up my collection one piece at a time, though, and haven't regretted any of it. I noticed my super-fashionable friend (she's a jeweler, who used to have her own kids' clothing line in department stores) was wearing an EF scarf today...it looked years old and still clearly high-quality and well-made.

Sal, I am rarely waiting for it to warm up. Always want the transitional seasons to last as long as possible!

Waving to my sweater twin!! I came back in my size in petites during the mid-sale and I pounced. It's really lovely! And this is a great outfit on you. I like the rich mix of neutrals and your pendant.
