I didn't want to fuss today, and it had warmed up a bit, so I opted for a long sleeve blouse under a sleeveless dress, unbelted, for maximum floaty ease (no skirt or trouser waist band poking into me! no worrying about tucking stuff in!). Of course, it hadn't warmed up that much, so I also needed to wear tights, which luckily I find very comfy. I thought it'd be fun to match my tights & blouse, since I had both in teal (one of my favourite colours). This silk blouse has lovely little sewn details that make me happy, hence the wrist close up. Ideally, this dress would have the waist hit 2-3" lower and be grey, but this is good enough until said dress comes along. I love the dress as pinafore look, and I wish I had more dresses that worked that way!
Anyway, I added my little fox brooch and called it a day. For outdoors, it was a bit windy, so I put on my new trench. I didn't get to any thrift stores in September (I've been too busy moving across the country and settling in to my new place!), and I noticed when the weather cooled down that I kept wishing I had a neutral trench coat. I actually thrifted a taupe one back in January or February, and kept it despite the forum's gentle advice that it didn't fit me, because I liked it. But when I put it on, I could tell YLF has improved my eye, and there was no way I was wearing it out of the apartment, lol. So I popped over to ebay and used my thrifting budget to get this trench, made by Halogen. I was thrilled when it arrived: it looks like new condition & I love the pleated skirt. There's also a fun back detail where the middle of the skirt has a column of buttons running up it and can actually be unbuttoned (...for those afternoon riding sessions...or bicycling I suppose...hehe), but I didn't catch that in a photo (the buttons are usually hidden by a pleat unless I twirl). It's ever so slightly warmer than I'd ideally like, but I still think I love it. My new garment test is 'would I wear this to a YLF meet up?', and I'd definitely wear it. That being said, I've included pictures of it open (how I wore it in today's mild weather) and closed, so feel free to let me know if I should stick with one or the other. I don't think the trench is returnable, hence why this isn't a k/r, but I'm always open to feedback. The belt is quite sashlike, so I just tied it quickly for the pics, but let me know if you have suggestions for that!
This was certainly fuss free, but I don't know if it was too simple/not figure flattering enough. I'm open to feedback either way, as always.
