WIW: earthy October - YouLookFab Forum

I managed to grab a few photos over the past month, pretty happy with all of these. Colour palette is remarkably consistent! The second to last one — black/orange/green — was my Halloween outfit (not motivated to make a costume this year). We went for a short hike, grabbed tea and coffee, then met up with some of kiddo’s friends for trick-or-treat, and somehow managed to hardly get rained on! It’s been a very accommodating fall weather-wise, much warmer than average and lots of sunny days. A bit uncanny, really.

Mostly oldies but goodies, remixed with a few new-this-year pieces: the wide-leg pants and NB sneakers in 5/6 (both bought last winter), the grandpa cardigan in #1 (purchased early September) and the drapey cropped cardi in #5 (purchased in May). I’ve been on a serious knitwear kick!

Too lazy to trim my bangs so I guess I’m growing them out again!

Gorgeous outfits! I really like the square shape of what is on your feet in #1. Also flares in #2 and cropped cardigan in #4. All of these look great though.

Love your hair. The earthy colors look fab on you. MyHalloween outfit was just a nod with a Halloween shirt and earrings, No costume. My outfit went to the library and grocery store then to see grandkids in their costumes and hand treats to the three trick-or-treaters who came to the door.

shevia -- The shoes in #1 are from a German company called Wildlings that makes barefoot/minimalist footwear. They are *so* comfortable, I'm considering adding one of their warmer styles for winter. The foot shape is quite flattering compared to some barefoot brands.

MsMaven -- Thank you! It took me a long time to realize that earth tones make me so happy and build up the palette that feels right.

Bijou -- Thank you, that is high praise. Realizing that I could hold my gear to a higher standard and actually feel good wearing it was an a-ha moment for me!

Runcarla -- Yes, SIMPAT indeed! Being honest about what works in real life, and then running with it. I've really embraced the intuitive side of outfit creation and wardrobe building over the past couple of years, and I'm loving it.

approprio -- It has been an evolution, for sure. The shapes in #4 are so fun to wear. The trend toward higher rises, wider legs, and shorter tops has been really good for my wardrobe.

ChristelJ and Helena -- I love plaids all year round, but figure I should milk it in the fall!

Kate and lozz-oz -- The past couple of years have been very good for me colour-wise. There's such a great variety of browns available these days!

Star -- Thank you! Yes, learning to only keep the pieces that are the most "me" means that every outfit feels a little special and unique now.

rachylou -- It's fun having enough hair to put up! I never thought I'd be a messy-bun person, but here we are.

Jonesy -- The outdoors are such a big part of my day-to-day, and including my gear outfits in my WIWs has definitely raised my standard for how I dress for days when being in the woods is the main event.

RobinF -- It's such a fun cardigan, and the smoky blue-grey colour is a favorite of mine.

Angie -- I don't know how I managed without that cinnamon cardigan in #7. It's one of my very favorite things.
