WIW: dressing down trousers with volume on volume

I wanted to wear my grey trousers this morning but I also wanted to style them in a more casual and arty manner, so I came up with this volume-on-volume combination of a bubble hem tunic over the wide leg trousers. I really like how this came out! Bonus that it's super comfortable; I feel like I'm wearing PJs!

Volume on volume can be tricky but you've pulled it off here. I love the purple shoes and teal top. My only issue is that your hems look like they are long enough to drag, but they could be fine and I'm just not seeing it right..

Sara, the hems are not dragging, but the shoes are clogs with a bit of platform so the hemline breaks quite severely in front. I'm not sure what to do about it - I guess I could try hemming them with an angle because I don't want the back hem to be any shorter. I think Angie told me once though that the break was OK since I'm going for a slouchy (as opposed to really polished or sleek) look anyway, but maybe she could refresh my memory.

The hems don't look to long to me - you can tell from the side view. No dragging. The hectic front break is because of the shape of your shoe, Diana. If you were wearing a less chunky shoe with a refined heel, the breakline would fall differently. See exhibit A. Flared trousers with refined shoes and a 1.5 inch heel. The breakline falls quite differently.

And I have to say that being able to wear something like this and not look like a fashion victim is probably the only reason why I am wearing trousers these days at all. (I had some 6 years ago and never wore them because I couldn't figure out how to de-business them).
