WIW: Drapey Sporty! - YouLookFab Forum

I wore this today for DS's play date. I love play dates ... I get to socialize with my friends while DSs socialize with theirs ;). Win win!

I am wearing a pleather panel tube skirt (local brand/old) with a drapey printed top (Zara). This was the top's first outing, I never got a chance to wear it all these days! I finished the outfit with my slip on sneaks (Steve Madden) for comfort and the studded tote (Steve Madden/old). I love how the high contrast bottom shows off the assymetric line of the top. The top is one of those things that looks better IRL.

I was comfortable all the time. But the trip back home was extremely sweaty in the cab (the car AC didn't seem to work). I couldn't wait to get home. Back to home sweet home now!

So what do you think? My happiness factor was certainly high. But I am open to suggestions for future styling purposes. Thank you as always for looking and commenting x

You stay and socialise? (shudder) As a true introvert, I could not do that. We just had kids over--and their parents came and got them later.
To be honest, the middle panel of this skirt looks heavy--the outfit should work--the lines are very clever--(panel in the blouse, panel in the skirt) and obviously it does work as everyone else thinks so, but something about it is just off to my eye. Oh well.

Gorgeous! I seriously thought this was an inspiration photo when I first saw it in the lineup, then I realized it was an actual, real life YLF'er! That's how great you look. And you look much more fab in that shirt than the Zara model does, BTW.

Fab! I can't get over how much better that blouse looks on you than on the Zara site (and probably that much better in person, too). Great sporty-glam look, right up my alley ^^

Alana, is it the fabrication contrast or the panel aspect? Contrasting fabrications are a great modern pairing, but take a little adjusting to. The vertical panel is very clever because, separate from playing on the top's paneling, it adds a vertical element to draw the eye up and down which is lengthening. Between the black shoes, black skirt with black panel, and diagonal hem of the shirt, even though the top is voluminous and the shoes high vamped the overall look is still nice and long.

Aida--that's kind of you to address my concern. The fact of the panel is fine. I think it must be the fabrication of the panel. I think it looks like rubber--too heavy for the gauzy shirt. I guess I am just not a fan of apparent fabric weight juxtapositions yet. Thanks for giving me the chance to figure that out.

Aida - Thank you for such a detailed analysis. I always love reading through your own outfit analysis. You have it all sorted always! And I admire how you understand the basics of an outfit! I could never do that!

Alana - Thank you for chiming in and for your honest opinion. Do you think there is too much going on in the outfit? It could be the reason why you feel something is off. Honestly though I don't put in too much thought into making an outfit (so I would never be able to come up with an analysis like Aida's!) When I like it in the mirror I just head out *chuckle*

Neel--keep doing what you're doing! It's great. There's not too much going on at all--I even love--no, I especially love how the studs of your purse echo the perforations in the skirt panel. It is amazing that you do it all so intuitively. Me, I am learning slowly but surely.
