WIW: Dots & Pom Pom

We had an icy cold day last Friday and I brought my fun pom-pom hat out to play. I’m showing my outerwear (I guess I like fit-and-flare in coats), then morning outfit and then afternoon after removing cardi. I had a choice of these brown-with-black-band boots or solid black – Do these work, or should I wear this outfit with my solid black riding boots next time?

Gah! I love everything about this! That hat is completely adorable!! I need one. That's on my list for next year. The coat is also gorgeous. And so is the entire outfit. So here is my question. Did you size way up in those jeans? The ones I tried on at Urban Outfitters -- admittedly quite a while ago -- were so soft and stretchy that they didn't look good on me sized up -- I just got elephant skin wrinkles, not a good look. It may be because my thighs are full, though. I have had this problem repeatedly with the thin and super stretchy jeans, and do better in less stretchy fabrics unless I want that skin tight fit.

Cute! I love the hat and the scarf! I like the cardi too...maybe I'll have to check out Gap and see if they have any left.

As far as the color of the riding boots, I just don't know...I'd have to see a pic with the black ones. In some ways, I think black would be better, because it would bring out the black in the scarf and the T-neck. But brown adds a little unexpected color. So I don't know...decisions, decisions.

Suz, these are my regular 27 size, they are fitted through hip and thigh. The cut is cigarette mid-rise, so from the knees down they are not straight. When I know I'll be sitting most of the day, I do not wear true skinnies, as I can feel the pressure on my knees and calves, sort of cutting circulation, even if they are stretchy. These are comfy but yes, they do look a bit too roomy around the boot. On the other hand (or leg) they hide the gap between my skinny calf and the boot. Compromises, compromises. I do love the look or snug skinnies paired with equally snug leather boots.

Such a cute hat and scarf, and I love the shape and sleekness of the coat! I like the brown boots with the outfit as shown in #4, but the extra cool gray layers make me wonder if the black boots would look more harmonious.
